On October 11, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province coordinated with Truong Son Construction Corporation (Army Corps 12) to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the MS12 sand mine to serve the component 4 project of Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway (section through Soc Trang province).
According to the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, the MS12 sand mine is located on the Hau River in An Lac Tay commune, Ke Sach district (Soc Trang province), with a total area of over 60.2 hectares and a reserve of over 645,000m3. The total reserve allowed for exploitation is 628,003m3. The exploitation capacity from January to July is 78,000m3/month, equivalent to 3,000m3/day. From August to the 13th month, the exploitation capacity is 12,000m3/month, equivalent to 462m3/day. In the 14th month, the exploitation capacity is 10,003m3/month, equivalent to 385m3/day.
Exploitation period: 14 months from October 10, 2024. Exploitation from 7am to 5pm, no exploitation at night.
The exploitation depth is from cote level -8.8m to cote level -13.5m (national elevation system). The riverbed depth after the end of exploitation, environmental improvement and restoration is from cote -10.1m to cote -12.1m.
Up to now, there are 2 sand mines (MS01, MS03) supplying sand for Component 4 Project with a maximum volume of 0.9 million m3/6.6 million m3 of sand by June 2025 (short of 5.7 million m3). The total maximum exploitation capacity of the mines (according to the exploitation license) has only reached 4,295m3/22,000m3/day.
Putting MS12 sand mine into operation aims to proactively source sand materials, meeting the construction progress of key projects under the direction of the Prime Minister.
