On the afternoon of December 7, Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Dien Commune (Lam Dong) - said: After many efforts, the forces have cleared all landslides and fallen forest trees on Gia Bac Pass from Km40 to Km60 of National Highway 28.

Starting from 5pm this afternoon, many vehicles such as cars, motorbikes and small trucks have started traveling through the pass.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Duong Quoc Trung - Deputy Director of Thanh Nam 886 Company - said: Since the morning of December 7, to speed up the progress of landslide recovery on Gia Bac Pass, the unit has mobilized 5 excavators, 2 overturned excavators and many dump trucks. Thanks to the sunny weather, the site clearance of landslides was accelerated and the results were as originally expected.

According to Mr. Trung, all landslides have been cleared for traffic. However, many large-scale landslides have only one lane open to traffic, so traffic is still difficult.

"After Gia Bac Pass was opened to traffic, cars and light trucks have been traveling through Gia Bac Pass since this afternoon. However, due to the large amount of soil and rock at some major landslides, heavy trucks, tractors, containers and passenger cars should limit traffic through Gia Bac Pass to ensure safety" - Mr. Trung advised.

According to Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan - Chairman of Son Dien Commune People's Committee, although Gia Bac Pass has been cleared, there is still a lot of work to be done. To return the pass to normal condition, it will take at least 1 week to continue to repair.

The local government is assigning police and militia forces to coordinate with 886 Thanh Nam Company to continue implementing the clearance and clearing of soil and rock at landslides. At the same time, regulate and divert traffic to ensure safety for people and vehicles passing on the pass.

As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper: Due to heavy rain lasting from the afternoon of December 3 to the morning of December 4, Gia Bac Pass on National Highway 28 had 20 landslides and fallen forest trees stretching from Km40 to Km60.
According to statistics, with about 20 landslides, a total of 21,000m3 of soil and rock and a large number of fallen forest trees blocking the road, Gia Bac Pass has been completely paralyzed for many days.
