National Highway 7 - the main route connecting the western border area of Nghe An with the plains is currently facing many potential risks of traffic accidents due to the lack of lighting systems, especially at intersections, densely populated residential areas and near schools.
Passing through many districts such as Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, Do Luong, Anh Son, Tuong Duong, Ky Son... (old), this route plays an important role in the circulation of goods and economic connectivity between regions. However, the lack of traffic lights at dangerous intersections is a problem that worries local people and authorities.
According to the reporter's records on July 20, at many intersections between National Highway 7 and inter-commune and inter-district routes, especially Cho Bong intersection (Hop Minh commune) and Van Tu commune intersection, there is a common situation of no traffic lights. People and students often cross the road without support to regulate traffic, while trucks, passenger cars, and container trucks move at high speeds, posing a great risk to pedestrians and small vehicles.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, (born in 1970, residing in Van Tu commune) shared: "I have witnessed many accidents that occurred right at this intersection. Without traffic lights, vehicles can go all the way, especially during rush hour when collisions are very likely to occur. According to Mr. Hung, during rush hour, the traffic of people and students passing through this area increases dramatically, making the risk of traffic accidents even more serious.

According to research, the traffic light system at the intersection of Van Tu commune has been inactive for many years. Most recently, on June 27, a serious accident occurred at this intersection, killing one person.
Ms. Tran Thi Quynh Hoa (born in 1986) - a regular customer of this route said: "It is very dangerous to cross the intersection. The vehicle runs very fast, if you lack a little attention, it can cause traffic insecurity".
Mr. Pham Quang Sang - Vice Chairman of Hop Minh Commune People's Committee - said: "This is a national highway, under the management authority of superiors. The locality has conducted an inspection and prepared a report to the relevant departments and branches, requesting early repair and installation of lighting systems at dangerous locations to ensure the safety of the people".
Faced with the above situation, local people hope that the authorities will quickly intervene, check the damaged lighting system, and synchronously deploy solutions to ensure traffic safety at key intersections on National Highway 7.
