Overtime, deploying many construction teams
Currently, Can Tho City is focusing on the project of Upgrading and expanding National Highway 91 (from Km0-Km7), passing through Cai Khe, Binh Thuy and Thoi An Dong wards. This is a key project, with a total investment of about VND 7,240.5 billion.

According to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, at the starting point of the project on Cach Mang Thang 8 Street (Cai Khe Ward), many vehicles and machines have been gathered. Along the project route, a team of engineers and workers are urgently constructing items.

Mr. Le Nhut Thu - Deputy Head of Project Management Department 2, Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) - said that from the groundbreaking date (September 22, 2025) until now, the Board has directed construction units to gather machinery and equipment and divide them into many construction teams throughout the project. However, there were some difficulties in the implementation process.
According to Mr. Thu, the project is facing difficulties due to non-continuous site clearance problems. Recently, high tides have also partly affected the progress. The project is located in the city center, with houses and a lot of traffic. Therefore, the Board and construction units, supervision consultants and construction coordination must ensure traffic safety, organize fence and signs in full.

During the construction process, the units also encountered difficulties due to the scarcity of sand and stone materials. The city's leaders and the Project Management Board have recognized this problem, so they have directed all construction units to prepare materials in advance. When the site is available, contractors will step in and divide it into many teams, working overtime even on Saturdays and Sundays, to speed up the compensation process.
People agree, hope the project will be completed soon
As a household whose house is affected by the project, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Anh (Binh Thuy ward) excitedly shared: "When the project was implemented, not only me but all the people on National Highway 91 were very happy and in agreement. We hope the project will be completed soon to have a spacious, airy road, convenient for transportation and economic development".
Mr. Nguyen Van Tien - Secretary, Head of Area 4, Binh Thuy Ward - said that through the work of mobilizing each household to prepare records for the counting and compensation, most people have agreed. However, some households have difficulties with land documents, so the compensation progress is still slow. Currently, people are waiting to complete the documents to receive compensation and hand over the site, everyone wants the project to be done as quickly as possible.

Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen informed that the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee have agreed to implement additional support policies to ensure the rights and stabilize the lives of users whose land, houses and works have been recovered, ensuring fairness, publicity and transparency.
"Currently, the entire political system of the locality is focusing on and making efforts to carry out land acquisition, compensation, support, and resettlement to implement the project in a timely manner; at the same time, it is necessary to ensure the rights, stabilize the lives and production of affected families, individuals, and organizations," Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen emphasized.

The City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Can Tho City have directed relevant units to urgently implement and focus on prioritizing the implementation of compensation, support and resettlement for the project before December 31, 2025. Organizations, families, and individuals affected are called for good and timely coordination with the Project Compensation, Support, and Resettlement Council in measuring and counting.
The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (section from Km0-Km7) was approved by the Can Tho City People's Council on December 8, 2023, with a total scale of about 7.04km and a total investment of about VND 7,240.5 billion.
The total number of organizations, families, and individuals affected by the project is about 1,083 cases. Of which, 109 cases have previously received compensation and support from the National Highway 91 Expansion Project (Ben Xe - Tra Noc Intersection).
After completion, the project will ensure safe and convenient traffic connections along National Highway 91, promote the city and neighboring areas' socio-economic development; beautify the urban area of the city center, prevent flooding caused by high tides and heavy rains; improve the lives of local residents.
