Regarding repair work, at the request of the Vietnam Road Administration, the Ministry of Transport has adjusted the tasks and supplemented the national highway maintenance plan for 2024 from the road economic career capital, in which the project to repair 6 bridges on National Highway 38 connecting National Highway 1 and National Highway 5 through Bac Ninh and Hai Duong provinces (including repairing Ho Bridge) is allocated a budget of 35 billion VND.
Regarding the traffic diversion plan, Project Management Board 3 under the Vietnam Road Administration (the unit assigned to manage the project to repair 6 bridges on National Highway 38, the section connecting National Highway 1 and National Highway 5 through Bac Ninh and Hai Duong provinces) proposed:
Traffic on National Highway 38 from Bac Ninh city to Ho bridge is diverted at 2 remote points: At the intersection of National Highway 38 and TL287, route Km8+400, vehicles enter TL278; at the intersection Km11+400, vehicles enter the old National Highway 38 and the on-site diverting point: At the intersection of National Highway 38 and TL279, route Km12+243, vehicles enter TL279 to cross Kinh Duong Vuong bridge.
Traffic on National Highway 38 from Hai Duong to Ho Bridge is divided at 2 remote diversion points: At the intersection of National Highway 38 and National Highway 17, route Km16+600, vehicles enter National Highway 17; at the intersection of Km15+200, vehicles enter the North Canal Road and on-site diversion points: At the intersection of National Highway 38 and TL280, route Km13+430, vehicles enter D20 Road to cross Kinh Duong Vuong Bridge.
After more than 20 years of use, Ho Bridge connecting National Highway 38 running through Tan Chi Commune (Tien Du) and Ho Ward (Thuan Thanh Town) affirms its vital position in connecting and promoting trade and travel of people in the South and North of the Duong River, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of Bac Ninh province.
Although functional agencies and units regularly check, repair and fix damaged parts, due to many subjective and objective reasons, the bridge surface is seriously degrading.
Statistics in recent years show that the number of people and vehicles traveling on National Highway 38, especially passing through Ho Bridge, has increased dramatically in quantity and frequency. Especially vehicles with large tonnage such as containers, tractors...
Currently, the Ho Bridge has many potholes. The bridge is nicknamed the "bridge of suffering" because many sections have peeled off the plastic, exposing the iron lining, which unintentionally becomes a "trap" for people and vehicles passing by every day.
