Agribank has just issued information and recommendations on fraud tricks related to cybersecurity incidents at CIC.
Accordingly, banks warn of forms of fraud and impersonation that can take advantage of incidents such as:
Forging bank headquarters, CIC to call to report " unsafe" accounts, requesting personal information, credit cards, CVV/CVC authentication codes, OTP security codes or passwords, etc.
Sending fake links containing malware to take control of devices, steal login information.
Forge messages, emails or notices from banks and CIC with content such as "Your account has been leaked, need to be re-verified", "Due to an incident at CIC, request to change your password" or "Detecting unusual transactions, entering an OTP code to cancel" to steal information or deceive customers and people to transfer money or pay "verification fees".
Impersonating the police force, especially the cybersecurity unit, calling to inform the account that there was an "illegal transaction" and then threatening and manipulating the victim's psychology, forcing him to pay "proof of innocence" or create an "online kidnapping" scenario.
There may be a situation where criminals sell services to "eliminate bad debts of CIC", "edited credit information" to commit fraud.
To prevent this, Agribank recommends that customers:
Absolutely do not provide passwords, OTP codes or other confidential information via phone, text messages, links and do not follow any requests from strangers or requests from unidentified people. even for subjects claiming to be police officers or bank employees.
Do not transfer money to unverified foreign accounts; when you need to change bank information, you must go directly to the transaction counter or use the official application of Agribank (Agribank Plus, Agribank Retail eBanking, Agribank Corporate eBanking) or at Agribank's only official website.
When receiving a call claiming to be an authorities agency or bank to report debt, request to freeze your account... stay calm, interrupt the call, and proactively contact the official hotline of Agribank or the nearest police agency.
Follow the instructions and recommendations of the Ministry of Public Security, the State Bank and Agribank to prevent risks, prevent fraud and property appropriation.
When there are suspicious signs arising in connection with the above incident, customers should contact Agribank via the nearest hotline or Agribank Branch/Transaction Office.
