At this time, Can Tho Eco Resort (Phong Dien district, Can Tho city) always welcomes many people and tourists to visit and experience, especially families with small children.
Explaining the appeal of Can Tho Eco Resort, in September 2024, this place was recognized as a typical tourist destination in the Mekong Delta. Previously, during the peak summer tourism season of 2024, this tourism enterprise invested in a safari area - the first semi-wild animal park in Can Tho City.
Continuing to lead the trend in the area, in November, Can Tho Eco Resort officially brought in capybaras - the world's largest rodent (capybara) that is loved and sought after by young people.
This species is known as the “Miss Congeniality” or “excellent swimmer” in the animal world. Capybaras usually live in groups, adults can weigh up to 68kg.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper on November 23, Mr. Lam Minh - General Manager of Can Tho Eco Resort - said that the company has brought in 3 capybaras and is preparing to bring in 4 more next week, for a total of 7 capybaras. The company had to prepare carefully and apply for full permits before bringing in capybaras.
“Although the capypara has only been here for more than 10 days, it has received positive responses from visitors. This animal is currently a trend among young people, so everyone is very excited to meet and interact with it,” said Mr. Minh.
Visiting the safari area with her family on the weekend, Ms. Kim Pha (42 years old, Dong Thap province) excitedly shared: “Seeing on social media images of capypara at Can Tho Eco Resort, my husband, I and our 2 children took advantage of our day off to come and have fun and experience. My family is very fascinated by the animals here.”
Realizing that more and more curious visitors come to the safari area to experience interacting with capybara, the business has deployed additional food packages so that visitors can take care of, feed, pet, and take souvenir photos with capybara.
Here, the capybaras live in separate cages located in a large safari zoo. The care is also simple, each day the capybaras only eat a few types of vegetables, corn, bananas, carrots... However, all the capybaras' eating and living activities are taken care of by a specialist.
“In recent days, we have seen a clear increase in the number of visitors, mainly students and families with young children. Currently, the safari area has no age limit, but the rules state that children must be accompanied by a relative when visiting. We also always have staff on duty to closely monitor security,” Mr. Minh added.
According to the General Manager of Can Tho Eco Resort, this is a new investment and also one of the highlight products, expected to attract the maximum number of visitors, increase revenue at the end of the year and Lunar New Year. The product also combines team building, combined with schools in practical experience programs. Through that, the business hopes to be able to create its own mark and increase the diversity of animals serving visitors.
