Recently, reflecting on the hotline of EVNHANOI Customer Care Center, many customers have reported strange phone numbers, impersonating electricity employees for the purpose of fraud.
The subjects often inform customers that they are in debt to electricity bills or have not paid electricity bills, if they do not pay quickly, the electricity will be cut off.
In addition, the subjects also suggested that people and customers access fake links and apps. Many people have had their bank accounts stolen when accessing these websites and apps of unknown origin.
As in the case of Mr. Le Minh Huy (Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi), his family completely conducts electricity payment transactions online automatically, so the electricity bill payment deadline is never overdue.
However, recently, Mr. Huy has continuously received messages and calls introducing himself as an electricity employee informing him about not paying his electricity bill.
The subjects continuously warn and make threatening statements that if payment is not made, the power will be cut off, affecting the family's daily life.
Mr. Huy said that although they received a call from the other end of the line, they read all the information and their address, but because they suspected that the incident had occurred consecutively and had certainly paid the electricity bill, they contacted EVNHANOI's hotline to verify the incident and learned that the family had successfully paid the electricity bill.

According to statistics from EVNHANOI's Customer Service Center, in 2024, there were 3,300 calls reporting receiving strange calls claiming to be electricity employees.
However, in just the first two months of 2025, the number skyrocketed to more than 5,200 calls, nearly double that of the whole of 2024.
Every day, hundreds of scam calls are made to access customers' phones. Although these tricks are old and mostly discovered, there are still many cases where customers call EVNHANOI's customer service center to check information.
The content of calls often informs that customers have not paid their electricity bills or informs that the payment method has been changed. After that, the subjects asked customers to add Zalo and install electricity bill payment software, leading them to strange links to steal bank account information.
Mr. Ta Minh Tri - Director of EVNHANOI Customer Care Center - affirmed that EVNHANOI does not use personal phones or personal accounts to contact customers or pay electricity bills.
For incoming calls from EVNHANOI Power employees, the EVNHANOI identification will be displayed with 3 network operators Viettel, Mobifone, Vinaphone and other network operators with the number 0963001288.
In addition, Electricity staff when communicating with customers always strictly comply with regulations on customer care.
In order to prevent the above counterfeit phenomenon, EVNHANOI has recently increased propaganda to each household about raising vigilance, absolutely not following the instructions of the counterfeit subjects, fake documents, not allowing scammers to steal personal information and profit, causing damage to customers and affecting the reputation of the electricity industry.
At the same time, EVNHANOI has put into use a call identification system to limit the situation of impersonating electricity employees to make fraudulent calls and exploit customers' personal information.
In addition, customers should choose safe electricity bill payment channels such as: Through banks ( Automatic payment, Internet banking or Mobile banking); e-wallets and online payment gateways (such as Viettel Money, VNPT Money, Vnpay, Momo...).
If receiving a call suspected of being a scam, customers using the phone should immediately notify the EVNHANOI Customer Care Center Center Center Center's hotline at 19001288 for advice and support 24/7.
