Young people " run out of pockets" because of hunting for year-end sales
The end of the year is always the time when young people rush to hunt for sales, from fashion, cosmetics to technology products... E-commerce platforms continuously launch dense promotions, hitting the psychology of "buy now or miss", causing many people to fall into the situation of spending beyond control.
Le Ha Vy (25 years old, Hanoi) said that every year-end sales season, Vy's spending often increases many times compared to normal days.
" each person whoads the page has to close an order, the voucher is always displayed continuously, I look at it and get caught up. When I pressed into my bank account, I was startled because the large amount of money was flying away without any good information" - Ha Vy shared.
Not only buying more than they need, many young people are also attracted to "buy 2 for 1", accumulate points or deep discount advertisements.
Do Minh Hoang (Hanoi) said that after shopping for a reason, many items have never been boxed or are not used for the right purpose.
"There are dishes I buy because I think they are cheap.Afraid of running out of stock, I immediately decided to order it, but in the end I couldn't use it.There are more and more things in the house, and I can't use all my money" - Minh Hoang confided.
"At this time, I have a headache because I have lost the ability to pay many times when sweeping my card.Seeing the monthly star-studded schedule makes me dizzy" - Minh Hoang said sadly.
Warning about the promotional effect, making young people more likely to fall into consumer traps
According to Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong - former Head of Economic Research Department, Hanoi Institute for Socio-Economic Development Research, consumers need to be especially cautious at the end of the year - the time when promotional programs are bustling, easily stimulating sudden shopping behavior.
Be careful before shopping, even when buying at a discount. First of all, we must see whether we have real needs or not, then compare prices in many places" - Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong emphasized.
Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong further explained that at the end of the year, there are many factors that make consumers spend more heavily, such as the psychology of Tet bonuses, the desire to reward themselves after 1 year of work or the pressure to shop to prepare for holidays... Meanwhile, e-commerce platforms use a series of strategies such as counting down time, creating a feeling of scarcity of goods, giving vouchers continuously... making buyers easily fall into a state of "cautiousness and savings", leading to rush shopping decisions.
"Many young people tend to have a lot of money in their cards or believe that paying monthly installments is safe, but the reality unintentionally opens up a spiral of uncontrollable spending. Do not put too much cash or money in your card, as this will create a psychology of spending on interest. We should divide the shopping budget to better control it" - Dr. Nguyen Minh Phong recommended.
