Many opportunities for Vietnamese businesses
According to the Ministry of Transport's report, investment in high-speed railways will create a construction market worth about 33.5 billion USD. Including the national railway system, urban railways will create a construction market of about 75.6 billion USD, vehicles and equipment of about 34.1 billion USD (locomotives and carriages of about 9.8 billion USD; signalling and information systems and other equipment of about 24.3 billion USD) and millions of jobs.
According to research, Vietnam's construction industry can be completely self-sufficient. According to experts from the Vietnam Mechanical Engineering Enterprise Association, if appropriate technology is transferred, with the above market size, Vietnam has the ability to develop the railway industry.
In particular, Vietnam can master the construction industry; gradually master and localize the manufacturing of train cars, power supply systems, information and signal systems; be self-sufficient in all operations, maintenance, repair and production of some replacement components for high-speed railways.
Vietnamese enterprises can meet and participate in many tasks.
Discussing the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises in implementing the North-South high-speed railway project, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy said that the Ministry of Transport has clearly identified the challenges when implementing the North-South high-speed railway project. Although Vietnam does not have a high-speed railway yet, it must be affirmed that it is not that we do not have anything, but that we have a team that can do many things regarding infrastructure.
Typically, for cable-stayed bridges like My Thuan 2, Vietnam has been able to carry out 100% from design to construction. For tunnel construction, we have leading enterprises such as Son Hai, Song Da 10, Deo Ca that are fully self-sufficient.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy added that regarding the train, we have upgraded all the old carriages into high-quality carriages, running SE21/SE22 trains between Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, which are very crowded with tourists and often sold out.
Vietnam has 2 railway industrial facilities such as Di An Railway Factory and Gia Lam Railway Factory, which have been developed for a long time and now have full machinery and equipment, including modern machinery and equipment such as CNC cutting machines.
Former Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong emphasized that for Vietnamese enterprises, we need policies to encourage enterprises to participate in projects.
A typical example is the issue of high-speed rail car production. Currently, Vietnamese enterprises have not focused on this field. However, when the "demand" is high, it will encourage enterprises to research and invest in developing technology to produce high-speed rail cars and at this time it is necessary to concentrate on production points, possibly according to the State's ordering mechanism. In addition, Vietnamese enterprises will participate in the service business at the station later.
It can be said that with available capacity, Vietnamese enterprises can completely meet many tasks in the North-South high-speed railway project. This project creates many billion-dollar job opportunities to promote the development of Vietnamese enterprises.
