This is not only a key project of the logistics industry but also demonstrates Viettel Group's strong commitment to becoming a pioneer in logistics technology in Vietnam.
Viettel's commitment
In mid-January 2024, at the opening ceremony of the first smart sorting technology complex in Vietnam in Quang Minh Industrial Park, Hanoi, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group Mr. Tao Duc Thang emphasized: "The first and largest smart sorting technology complex in Vietnam is the first step in the process of building a smart logistics infrastructure".
The head of Viettel also requested Viettel Post to fulfill the task of building national logistics infrastructure including logistics parks, smart border gates, ICD dry ports..., contributing to the goal of making Vietnam a logistics center of the region and the world.
At that time, the request of the Viettel leader seemed difficult to implement in a short time because there was too much work to be completed, with many very complicated component projects. The difficulty was that Vietnam had never had a logistics park, the difficulty was that it would have to work between Vietnam and China on the mechanism and policies to allow customs clearance at Viettel Logistics Park, the complexity was that the implementation volume was very large, not only in terms of construction items but also the technologies that needed to be deployed.

With a total investment of nearly VND 3,300 billion and a scale of more than 143 hectares in Cao Loc district, Lang Son province, Viettel Logistics Park is considered a pioneering logistics project, converging the most modern technology in Vietnam. Few people can believe that such a large, especially complex project, requiring the coordination of many ministries and branches of 2 countries (Vietnam - China) can be put into operation in 2024 because there are only about 5 months left until the end of the year.
However, Viettel people said they would do it and that determination was supported by many levels because everyone wanted to quickly resolve the border congestion at peak times: no one wanted to see the scene of having to rescue dragon fruit, watermelon... at Lang Son border gate.
Viettel Post has focused resources on building infrastructure and technology with the help of competent authorities and professional partners in designing, constructing and operating border gates such as the Border Guard Command, General Department of Customs, Lang Son Provincial Government, Ministry of Agriculture, Maxvision partner, Bac Dau partner... In just 3 weeks, the entire infrastructure was completed with the contribution of nearly 500 people working 24/7; 50 technology systems with nearly 1,500 features have been installed and completed.
On November 14, 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Viettel Logistics Park and directly directed the People's Committee of Lang Son province, the General Department of Customs... to remove difficulties and obstacles so that the project can come into operation in December 2024. The most important documents such as the license to recognize the location for centralized customs inspection of goods, the license for Chinese vehicles to operate, and the decision to adjust the project's investment policy were granted right before the opening day.
Lightning speed brings Viettel Logistics Park to the finish line and… no stopping!
Nearly 500 workers and engineers of Viettel Post are continuously present at the project day and night with the highest goal, bringing the project to the finish line on schedule.
After much effort, phase 1 of the project with an area of about 58 hectares has been completed and officially opened. Meanwhile, phase 2 of the project is implementing site clearance procedures.
On the morning of December 11, Viettel Logistics Park in Lang Son was officially opened, opening a new chapter for cross-border logistics services at the border gate. Since then, the fear of border congestion leading to the need for rescue or disposal of fresh Vietnamese agricultural products exported to China has been solved.
The newly opened Logistics Park will help shorten customs clearance times, reduce pressure at Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh border gates, and create a modern logistics ecosystem, promoting the border economy. The previous customs clearance capacity of Lang Son border gate was only under 1,500 vehicles/day, but now it has more than doubled with Viettel Logistics Park.
The difference of Viettel Logistics Park is that the entire system applies advanced technology, aiming at automation such as smart vehicle routing, sorting and sorting of e-commerce goods, smart customs gates and protective fences integrated with AI, RFID, NFC technology.
It is estimated that when put into operation, Viettel Logistics Park will bring in revenue of more than a thousand billion VND per year, expanding growth space and ensuring revenue growth rate; expected to be one of the key services helping Viettel Post achieve a revenue of billion USD.
After nearly 1 year, the goal set by the Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group has gradually become a reality when Viettel Post quickly brought the Viettel Logistics Park project in Lang Son to the finish line on schedule. At the opening ceremony, the Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group once again emphasized the path that the Group will take with the spirit: "Do not stop there!".

“In the coming time, Viettel will complete the network of logistics centers nationwide, serving key economic regions with 5 orientations: Smart border gates; Agricultural logistics center; Logistics center in industrial parks; Supply chain infrastructure; Multimodal transport network; Creating a smart, automated, multimodal logistics ecosystem, from road, rail, waterway to aviation,” the head of Viettel shared.
In fact, Viettel has completed the planning of these 5 logistics infrastructure groups and will also rapidly deploy them after putting Lang Son Logistics Park into operation.
Through the opening of the Logistics Park project, Viettel Group once again affirms its pioneering role and commitment in developing modern logistics infrastructure. This is a milestone affirming Viettel's progress in the journey to become the leading logistics brand in the region and the world.
