On January 17, within the framework of the event "Forum of Friendship and Cooperation Cities - Da Nang 2025", the People's Committee of Da Nang City organized the "International Cooperation Workshop Promoting Business Investment Taking Advantage of New Trends".
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh said that in the past time, despite many difficulties and challenges, Da Nang City has still made efforts to maximize its "internal strength", combined with "external strength", and strengthened international cooperation to promote development, affirming the role of the economic growth pole of the Central Highlands - Central region of Vietnam.
In 2024, the city's economy will achieve many positive results. The total social product GRDP is estimated to increase by 7.51% compared to 2023. The scale of the city's economy at current prices is estimated at more than 151,307 billion VND, expanding by nearly 17,086 billion VND compared to 2023. In particular, a number of key economic sectors and fields continue to develop strongly and flourish such as tourism, industrial production, and information technology.
In particular, the National Assembly recently passed Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city. The Resolution officially took effect on January 1, 2025, marking an important milestone in the development process of Da Nang city with new development drivers such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, startups, innovation, Free Trade Zones, etc. In addition, along with Ho Chi Minh City, which is oriented to develop a comprehensive international financial center, Da Nang was selected to pilot the development of a regional-scale financial center.
According to Mr. Ho Ky Minh, facing new opportunities, new opportunities and advantages, Da Nang hopes that partners, business community and investors will continue to promote cooperation, investment and business activities in the city, especially in areas where businesses have strengths and Da Nang is focusing on developing such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, innovation, Free Trade Zone, International Financial Center, etc.
