Expected to increase charter capital of Expressway Corporation to 38,625 billion VND

With the Government officially approving the restructuring plan, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) plans to increase its charter capital to VND38,625 billion, creating a new milestone after 20 years of establishment.

Speaking at the 20th Anniversary of the Vietnam Expressway Corporation held on the evening of October 4, Mr. Pham Hong Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Director said that with an initial charter capital of about 1,000 billion VND, under the guarantee of the Government, up to now, VEC has arranged domestic and foreign capital sources to invest in 05 expressway projects with a total length of 540km, total investment up to 108,000 billion VND, including: Noi Bai - Lao Cai, Cau Gie - Ninh Binh, Da Nang - Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay and Ben Luc - Long Thanh, contributing to laying the foundation and changing the face of Vietnam's expressway system.

VEC has put into operation 490km of expressways belonging to 4/5 expressways, accounting for 27% of the total length of expressways in operation nationwide; safely and smoothly serving over 430 million vehicles, with total toll revenue reaching over 30,000 billion VND. In addition to the expressways invested by VEC, VEC's member units have also participated in the management and operation of 300km of expressways implemented under the form of public investment/public-private partnership of other investors.

Recently, the Project on the restructuring plan of VEC has been approved by the Government. On that basis, VEC has completed and submitted to the Committee for State Capital Management at Enterprises the Project on restructuring in the direction of continuing to maintain VEC as a 100% State-owned enterprise; assigned to manage the infrastructure assets of expressways, calculating the State capital component at the enterprise and increasing the charter capital according to the roadmap, on the basis of the State capital invested in projects invested by VEC.

With the consent of the Government's leaders, in 2024, VEC reported to the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises and submitted to competent authorities a plan to supplement the charter capital of the parent company - VEC. After completing the supplementary procedures, VEC's charter capital will be increased to VND 38,625 billion, creating conditions for VEC to improve its financial capacity, opening up many opportunities to expand its scale of operations, participating in national expressway network development projects in the next phase, contributing to the construction of national road traffic infrastructure in particular and socio-economic development in general.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, stated that implementing the motto of "going first to pave the way", on the basis of successfully implementing the Development Strategy to 2030 with a vision to 2035 and the Production, Business and Investment Development Plan to 2025 approved by the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, VEC has been affirming its model, promoting its core role in investment activities, management and operation of expressways, contributing to the successful implementation of one of the three strategic breakthroughs and the 10-year Socio-Economic Development Strategy for the period 2021-2030 as determined in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party.

Also at the Anniversary Ceremony, Vietnam Expressway Corporation was awarded the "20 years of construction - innovation - development" souvenir plaque and a Certificate of Merit by Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises Nguyen Hoang Anh for its outstanding achievements in work and contributions to the development of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises.

On this occasion, the Corporation's Trade Union was awarded the Emulation Flag and Certificate of Merit by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Transport Trade Union.
