On October 10, Mr. Hoang Nam - Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee - confirmed that he had received a request for permission to study projects in the area from FLC Group Joint Stock Company (abbreviated as FLC).
"Based on FLC's proposal, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province will assign the relevant departments to advise and submit to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province for consideration and decision," said Mr. Hoang Nam.
In a document sent to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, FLC proposed to study the idea of planning and investing in a complex of golf courses, conference centers, resort tourism, resort villas and high-class entertainment on a scale of about 700 hectares in the coastal commune of Trung Giang (Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province) with a total investment of about 20,000 billion VND.
It is known that previously, FLC was the investor permitted by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to research projects in the Gio Linh resort, entertainment and coastal urban complex; the Sports Service Area project in Gio Linh district and the FAM - Quang Tri high-tech agricultural zone project.
On August 25, 2022, FLC sent a document to the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, proposing to stop researching 2 resort tourism and sports service projects in Gio Linh district.
FLC gave the reason for stopping the research on the above two projects, because the research implementation process encountered some objective problems that required a lot of time to resolve, such as overlapping sand mines, titanium mines, etc. Besides, through the research, FLC realized that the support and consensus of local people for the projects was not high, which would affect the time and progress of project implementation in the future...
As for the FAM - Quang Tri High-Tech Agricultural Zone project, FLC hopes to continue implementing it.
This project had an investment policy decision in June 2018, with a total investment capital of 371 billion VND, implemented on an area of nearly 200 hectares in sub-areas 764 and 765 of Cam Tuyen commune (Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province).
It is expected that the project will go into production in October 2020. However, according to the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Tri province, as of October 10, 2024, the investor has only paid 5.2 billion VND in compensation and support for site clearance for 60/198 hectares of project land.
At the end of December 2022, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province held a working session with departments, branches, Cam Lo district People's Committee and investors, where they agreed on a plan for the investor to voluntarily terminate the operation of the entire investment project, but it has not yet been implemented.
