Pork prices have increased sharply, but finished pork at traditional markets and supermarkets in Can Tho City still remains stable thanks to abundant supply.
At Tan An and Xuan Khanh markets (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city), fresh pork is sold at different prices depending on the type. Pork thighs cost from 90,000 - 110,000 VND/kg, pork belly is 115,000 - 130,000 VND/kg, lean and lean meat ranges from 140,000 - 150,000 VND/kg, pork belly is only from 140,000 - 160,000 VND/kg, young ribs are 180,000 - 200,000 VND/kg...
Trader Nguyen Thi Nga (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) said that due to abundant supply, pork prices are relatively stable. Consumer purchasing power decreased after Tet, so the number of new pork imports per day also decreased.
"Although the price of pigs has increased slightly, it has not seen an impact on finished pork. Only the pork belly and young ribs have been quite popular for the past few days, so they have increased slightly by 5,000 VND/kg, the rest are stable. With current purchasing power, I only import 50 - 70kg of meat per day to ensure freshness and meet customer needs," Ms. Nga shared.
The price of finished meat at some supermarkets is 10 - 15% higher than traditional markets, but there are promotional programs to attract customers.

To ensure food safety and hygiene, traditional markets and supermarkets have increased control and management of goods supply in general and pork in particular.
