Farmers are excited
In order to diversify vegetables to serve the market during the Lunar New Year 2025, at this time, farmers in Gia Xuyen commune (Hai Duong city) are actively taking care of their vegetables in the fields to meet market demand.
These days, in the fields of Gia Xuyen commune, households are busy taking care of winter vegetables. To meet the market demand for Tet, this year, people grow a variety of vegetables, such as cabbage, kohlrabi, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce...
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Luyen's family in Gia Xuyen commune (Hai Duong city) has more than 60 hectares of land to grow agricultural products. In order to harvest in time for Tet, Mrs. Luyen's family has hired more workers to take care of them. With the advantage of fertile land, stable irrigation water source and favorable weather, currently, many areas of cabbage, kohlrabi, and cauliflower that Mrs. Luyen's family planted early have been harvested.
While working hard to weed the vegetable beds, Ms. Luyen excitedly shared: "This year the weather is nice, despite the impact of storm No. 3, we farmers actively take care of the fertilization, improve the soil and choose suitable vegetable varieties, to ensure timely harvest and achieve the highest yield. The early season selling price is quite high, so we farmers are very excited."
Ms. Luyen also added that near Tet, the weather is suitable so vegetables grow quickly, do not need fertilizer, vegetables are still fresh so the yield increases. However, at this time, taking care of vegetables becomes even more important, because even a small mistake can affect the whole vegetable crop during Tet.
Each item increased from 1,000-2,000 VND/kg
Preparing vegetable supplies for the market at the end of the year, cooperatives in Hai Duong province are actively directing members and associated households to strictly follow technical procedures, ensure food hygiene and safety, and build a brand of clean and safe vegetables.
According to cooperatives, this year's Tet season, prices of long-term vegetables such as kohlrabi, carrots, cauliflower, and cabbage will increase slightly due to the impact of storms that damaged winter vegetable areas in the northern provinces.
Mr. Ho Viet Hoan - Director of Hoang Nam Phat Cooperative (Hai Duong City) said that at this time, farmers and cooperatives are making efforts to produce and ensure supply. This year, Hoang Nam Phat Cooperative grows a variety of products in large quantities.
"We produce 500 hectares of agricultural products and expect to harvest 20,000 tons of all products. Of which, the four most popular items brought to the market are cabbage, cauliflower, Chinese cabbage and carrots. In general, the prices of all items this year have increased by 10-20% compared to last year. Each item will increase by 1,000-2,000 VND/kg" - Mr. Hoan said.
With the production concentration of cooperatives and the dynamism, sensitivity and hard work of the people, the lush green vegetable fields in Hai Duong are ready to provide enough vegetables to ensure food safety and hygiene to the market for the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025.
