Gold ring prices skyrocket, HCMC residents seek to buy

Some gold shops in Ho Chi Minh City have announced that they are out of stock, especially gold rings, making transactions difficult.

Recorded by Lao Dong on January 4 at major gold stores in Ho Chi Minh City, the number of customers coming to trade increased sharply compared to previous days. Some stores have announced that they are out of gold rings for sale. These stores still buy normally, there is no phenomenon of customers not buying gold.

At a large gold shop on 3/2 Street (District 10), Ms. Thanh Phuong tried to buy 2 taels of gold rings but was informed by staff that the whole system was out of stock and did not know when there would be a return.

On Than Tai day, I bought 1 tael of gold rings at this store because the staff had previously informed me that the seller had made a profit so there was a deal. However, just a short time later, I stopped to buy but the products were out of stock until today" - Ms. Phuong shared.

At PNJ Company, employees also announced that they are temporarily out of gold rings and gold bars. Saigon Jewelry Company (District 3) also limits the number of gold rings sold, each person can buy up to 5 gold rings. Ordering gold bars is also difficult.

"I want to buy gold bars but it is quite difficult to register because I am always out of transactions. The staff also informed that the quantity of goods is limited, so the number of gold bar orders is limited" - Mr. Dang Van Xuan (living in Thu Duc City) said.

By the afternoon of March 4, Doji listed gold ring price at 91.2-92.2 million VND/tael. The price of gold bars was listed by SJC at VND89.6-91.6 million/tael (buy-sell).

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed gold bars and gold rings at 90.1-92.1 million VND/tael (buy-sell).

Previously, the price of SJC gold bars was often higher than that of gold rings. In 2024, there was a time when the price of SJC gold bars was higher than that of plain gold rings by tens of millions of VND/tael.

However, the current developments in the price of gold rings are quite surprising when it is equal to the price of gold bars, making trading more exciting.
