World oil prices today
At the end of the trading week, WTI crude oil was at 76.57 USD/barrel last week, increasing to 77.39 USD/barrel this weekend. Overall, WTI crude oil increased by 0.82 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1% compared to the previous week.
Brent crude oil was at $79.76/barrel last week, up to $80.79/barrel this weekend. Overall, Brent crude oil increased by $1.03/barrel last week, up 1.26% compared to the previous week.
Thus, world oil prices continued to increase last week, extending the increase to the fourth consecutive week.
Oil prices were supported by US sanctions against Russia and a sharp decline in US oil inventories, analysts said. The impact of the sanctions forced countries such as India and China to seek new supplies.
However, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report on domestic oil production and demand, along with geopolitical factors such as the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, put downward pressure on prices in some sessions.
Additionally, economic data from the US and China also impacted the market.
Domestic gasoline prices today
On January 19, retail gasoline prices according to the price list announced by Petrolimex in regions 1 and 2 (46 provinces and cities currently applying) are as follows:
The above domestic retail price of gasoline and oil was adjusted by the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade in the price management session on the afternoon of January 16, 2025. Accordingly, the price of gasoline and oil products increased simultaneously.
The price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by 319 VND/liter, RON 95-III gasoline increased by 201 VND/liter, diesel increased by 539 VND/liter, kerosene increased by 462 VND/liter. Notably, fuel oil increased by 999 VND/kg.

Forecast of domestic gasoline prices next period
According to a representative of a petroleum business, domestic petroleum prices will fluctuate according to the world petroleum situation. According to current market developments, it is forecasted that in the next price adjustment period, petroleum prices will likely continue to increase sharply and mark 4 consecutive weeks of price increases. Accordingly, gasoline prices are forecast to increase by 250-320 VND/liter; oil prices will increase by about 600 VND/liter.
