World oil prices have continuously decreased sharply in recent trading sessions. At the end of the session on February 26, Brent and WTI crude oil prices decreased by 0.67% and 0.45%, respectively, to the lowest level in 2 months.
According to the US Energy Information Administration, US gasoline and distillate inventories in the week ending February 21 unexpectedly increased, respectively, by 400,000 barrels and 3.9 million barrels. In contrast, oil inventories unexpectedly decreased by 2.3 million barrels due to increased oil refining activities.
According to analysts, increased gasoline inventories put pressure on oil prices. In addition, US President Donald Trump's policies also increase the risk of oil price reduction. According to Reuters, President Trump's administration is pressuring Iraq to restart the oil pipeline to Turkey or face sanctions along with Iran.
Mr Trump's tariff policies could also spark a trade war and hold back economic growth.
