World oil price today
World oil prices today increased simultaneously. At 11:29 (Vietnam time), WTI crude oil was at 67.71 USD/barrel, up 0.40 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.60%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 66.31 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 66.44 USD/barrel.
Brent oil was at 69.69 USD/barrel, up 0.39 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.56%. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 69.30 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 69.47 USD/barrel.
Thus, world oil prices today recovered slightly after a series of consecutive price decreases. At the end of yesterday's trading session (March 5), Brent and oil prices decreased by more than 2%.
According to analysts, oil prices recovered partly thanks to the news that President Donald Trump is about to make a final decision on the possibility of tax cuts for some industries. In particular, the US will maintain a 25% tax rate on Canada and Mexico, but will consider eliminating a 10% tax rate on energy products imported from Canada, such as crude oil and gasoline, according to the rules of origin of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement.
In addition, oil prices were affected by data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showing that US crude oil inventories in the week ended February 28 increased by 3.6 million barrels to 433.8 million barrels, more than 10 times higher than the analysts' forecast increase of 341,000 barrels. The main reason is the seasonal maintenance of the refinery. The EIA also said that inventories of gasoline and distillate products decreased by 1.4 million barrels and 1.3 million barrels, respectively, due to increased export demand.
