According to Bloomberg, Liam has resigned. Neither Tesla nor Liam have yet commented further.
Liam joined Tesla in 2015 after quitting his Apple job. Thus, he was the latest senior leader to leave the company in the noisy 2018.
Thus, a total of 42 Tesla leaders left their private companies in 2018 even though this year is not over yet. If calculated in the past 12 months, this number has even increased to 59 people. The company announced that it had laid off at least 9% of its workforce in June during which 13 leaders left the company.
In fact, Apple has welcomed many employees quitting their jobs from Tesla. Elon Musk once called Apple "tesla's land", when the iPhone maker continuously took over former Tesla employees. Meanwhile, Tesla has also hired many former Apple engineers.
Were always joking that Apple is like Teslas cemetery. If you can't work at Tesla, you can come and work at Apple," Elon Musk told Handelsblatt in 2015.
Previously, global vice president of finance Justin McAnear also announced that he would leave Tesla to become the CFO of another company. He is the latest to join the ranks of departed directors who have stepped back from the company in recent months, while the company is struggling to develop into a mature major auto maker.
Since 2017, young electric vehicle company Tesla has surpassed leading US manufacturer General Motors to become the brand with the largest market capitalization, up to over 60 billion USD in the US.
