With timely policies, Hanoi has witnessed a strong business community with more than 373,000 units. This community has been accompanying the city to realize its development aspirations in the digital age.

Strong business community development

In the early years of the 21st century, Garment Corporation 10 chose a difficult challenge, which was to conquer the pinnacle of the garment industry with Veston products. The first Veston factory of Garment 10 on an area of 1,560m2 was built in December 2003 in Hanoi, with a capacity of 250,000 products/year.

In 2004, with an average workforce of 398 people, the first Veston factory in Hanoi produced 198,000 products, exported 103,992 products, meeting quality requirements to the Japanese and American markets...

To achieve that success, in addition to the efforts of the staff, May 10 has received timely and effective support from Hanoi City through mechanisms, policies and an increasingly open and transparent business environment.

Mr. Mac Quoc Anh - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Hanoi Association of Small and Medium Enterprises - said that with the message "Enterprises - the driving force of the country's economic development", in recent years, Hanoi has witnessed a strong development of the business community with more than 373,000 units. Along with the strong growth in quantity, businesses and entrepreneurs have shown an important role and contribution, promoting the development of the city.

Enterprises and entrepreneurs are present in almost all industries and fields of production and business, operating not only domestically, but also expanding to many countries in the region and around the world; especially, there has emerged a force of young, dynamic entrepreneurs who dare to think, dare to do, dare to face difficulties, and successfully start new, creative business models.

Breakthrough in transport infrastructure to develop a modern capital

20 years ago, Hanoi had only 3 large bridges across the Red River: Long Bien, Thang Long and Chuong Duong. Remembering those days, every time people wanted to go to Noi Bai airport, most of them just went along the narrow Pham Van Dong street and then followed the Bac Thang Long - Noi Bai route to cross Thang Long bridge. Now, to get to the airport, there are many ways with much shorter travel time...

Over the past 20 years, a series of major transport projects have been implemented to connect the center with the outskirts such as Thang Long Avenue, Nhat Tan Bridge, Vinh Tuy Bridge (phase 2), Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway project... along with many belt roads, radial axes, and overpasses invested in, gradually forming a closed road traffic system.

A series of new bridges were built connecting the two banks of the Red River and the Duong River, such as Thanh Tri Bridge, Vinh Tuy Bridge, Nhat Tan Bridge, and Dong Tru Bridge, making the once distant places now closer.

Promoting digital economic development

In the context of increasingly developing technology, Hanoi is also a pioneer and leader in the country in digital transformation and digital economic development. The city has issued a plan on digital transformation, building a smart Hanoi by 2025, with a vision to 2030, including more than 200 tasks. In particular, Hanoi has actively participated in the Government's digital transformation programs such as Project 06, national programs on platforms, service infrastructure, cashless payments, etc. and has achieved some results.

According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ha Minh Hai, digital transformation is no longer an option but has been identified as inevitable for Hanoi, a breakthrough for the capital to develop quickly and sustainably. Where people and businesses can take advantage of new technologies such as AI, Bigdata... to change the way we live as well as production and business activities. In the coming time, authorities at all levels need to promote the development of 4 readiness to each citizen to further spread the digital transformation process and at the same time create a foundation to promote the development of the digital economy.

To date, there are nearly 5,000 digital technology enterprises operating in Hanoi. E-commerce has grown strongly with revenue increasing by 40% compared to 2023. More than 90% of large enterprises in Hanoi have switched to cashless payments, contributing to improving management and business efficiency. Electronic tax declaration and payment reached 99%.
