Pet hotels attract customers, many stores have a bumper crop during Tet

Can Tho - It's still nearly a month until Lunar New Year, but many people have already booked "hotels" and taken their pets to beauty salons at a cost of millions of dong.

Pet room hunting

Along with planning a trip during Tet, Ms. Nguyen Dan Thanh (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) took her pet to a beauty salon and booked a room to keep it during the holidays.

According to Ms. Thanh, traveling with pets will be inconvenient. In addition to some places that do not allow pets, changes in climate and environment can affect the health of pets, so sending them to care facilities is the optimal choice for her.

“Pet hotel services are very convenient, the staff will take good care of your pet from eating, bathing to sleeping and especially regularly sending pictures of the pet’s daily status to customers. Although the rental price during Tet holidays is about 20% higher, I find it quite reasonable, and I feel more secure when going out,” said Ms. Thanh.

Sharing the same sentiment, for the past few years, on holidays and Tet, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dat (Cai Rang District, Can Tho City) has chosen to send his pet to a pet care service if he wants to travel. Besides price, what Mr. Dat cares about most is the quality of service because his puppy is quite sensitive.

“Learning from previous experiences, I booked a hotel room for my pet quite early. Choosing a place to leave my pet is not simple, I had to consult many places to find a reputable address, attentive care, the puppy is healthy and I can also feel secure when going out. Booking early, I also get many preferential promotions,” Mr. Dat shared.

Along with booking a room early for his pet, Mr. Dat also took his puppy for a spa bath and a haircut to celebrate Tet. By choosing a full-service bath, spa, and 5-day hotel stay for his pet, the amount Mr. Dat spent was 1.2 million VND, not including the additional costs incurred during the stay.

Recruit more staff, upgrade services

Faced with a doubling of customers during Tet, Mr. Le Hong Phuc's pet care store (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) had recruited more staff and expanded its space.

According to Mr. Phuc, in the face of increasing competition from pet care facilities, the store is forced to upgrade its facilities, constantly improve its services and train professional staff to attract customers. This year, the pet rooms have been invested in with many new toys and installed a camera system so that customers can monitor their pets 24/7.

Also providing pet care services in Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City, the number of customers coming to Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia's shop has increased by 30 - 40%. In addition to bringing pets for haircuts, trimming, bathing, shampooing, and dyeing their fur... with service prices ranging from 100,000 - 400,000 VND/time, many customers have booked rooms for their pets to stay. If customers book a long-term stay package with a price of 600,000 VND/package or more, Mr. Nghia will give them a discount or another care service.

“Customers are very strict about keeping their pets for fear of catching diseases from other animals. We have to keep each pet in a separate room with regular monitoring and care by trained staff,” said Mr. Nghia.
