On April 16, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Kon Tum Province said that in 2025, the province aims to plant new 1,578ha of Ngoc Linh ginseng - a valuable medicinal herb is considered a "national treasure" and an effective livelihood to help people eradicate hunger and reduce poverty.
Currently, the whole province has about 2,922ha of forest with Ngoc Linh ginseng. In particular, people cultivated about 333.63ha, mainly in Dak Glei districts (75.11ha) and Tu Mo Rong (258.52ha). The rest, about 2,589ha, invested by businesses.
In order to achieve a new planting plan, local authorities and people have prepared seed sources, planted land and appropriate protection plans, ensuring planting in the right season and high efficiency.
Currently, the nursery of the business has about 2 million seedlings, along with the amount of seeds from the seeds by the people, enough to meet the new planting needs as planned.
In addition, the province is implementing the plan to invest in Ngoc Linh ginseng testing machine from the state budget, in order to test product quality at a reasonable fee.
The province also reviews free tests in investigations, handling fake ginseng, contributing to protecting this valuable pharmaceutical brand.
According to the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district, Ngoc Linh ginseng has helped nearly 2,000 households escape poverty. Many families thanks to growing ginseng have improved income, bought cars and gradually rising to get rich.
