On April 6, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province announced that it had directed competent agencies to strengthen prevention and handling of production facilities with a high risk of environmental pollution, in order to protect people's health and daily life.
In Kon Tum, rubber latex processing factories, cassava starch and large-scale pig farms are mainly concentrated in Sa Thay district, Kon Tum city, Ngoc Hoi district and Dak Ha.
These are facilities with a high risk of discharging waste. If not strictly controlled, it will seriously affect the environment.
Recently, people and the monitoring delegation of the Provincial People's Council have reported the situation of some plants causing odor in residential areas; at the same time, there are concerns about unsafe working conditions and unsecured production environment.
In the face of the above situation, the Provincial People's Committee requested the authorities of Dak Ha district and Kon Tum city to inspect environmental legal procedures for Ngoc Ni Processed pig farm (Kettel commune, Kon Tum city) and Anh Phong Livestock Farm (village 5, Dak Mar commune, Dak Ha district).
If violations are detected, relevant units must strictly handle them according to the law.
The authorities will inspect the operation of Thuan Loi Rubber latex processing factory (village 5, Plei Kan town, Ngoc Hoi district) and strictly handle vehicles transporting rubber latex that cause leakage of wastewater, air pollution and foul odors, especially during the peak harvest and production season.
The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate and support organizations and individuals to complete documents and procedures for granting or extending environmental licenses in accordance with regulations.
