Kon Tum accelerates public investment to create momentum for economic development

THANH TUẤN |

The Kon Tum provincial government requires functional agencies and localities to accelerate key construction projects, creating momentum for socio-economic development.

Speed up the progress of many projects

From January 2025 to present, Kon Tum province has streamlined the administrative apparatus to improve management efficiency and effectiveness, and implemented key transport infrastructure projects. The disbursement of public investment capital is being implemented quickly, creating favorable conditions for businesses and workers.

Currently, projects such as flood and landslide embankments in ethnic minority villages along the Dak Bla River; bridges and roads from Ia Chim Tourist Area to Ya Ly Commune; main road in the West of Kon Tum City... are being accelerated.

Mr. Vo Dai Tan - Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Traffic, Civil and Industrial Works of Kon Tum province - said: "Detecting these as key projects, we have requested contractors to speed up the progress. Some roads have been paved with asphalt surface to ensure convenient traffic".

As for the Kon Tum city main road project, although the completion plan is in 2026, the province requires it to be completed in December 2025. Currently, workers work day and night, machinery and equipment are mobilized to the maximum to ensure progress.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sam - Vice Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, the project to prevent floods and landslides in ethnic minority villages must ensure the right planning, quality and urban beauty, contributing to the development of the night-time economy and tourism.

Kon Tum City People's Committee was also assigned to develop a resettlement plan for affected households, ensuring completion in June 2025. At the same time, the province has implemented a project to expand the population in ethnic minority villages in the inner city, associated with settlement and cultivation so that people have land for production and stabilize their lives.

Ensuring the supply of construction materials

Site clearance is one of the major challenges in investment and construction. To remove difficulties, Kon Tum province implements the motto "wherever the site is cleared, construction will be done". Local authorities actively mobilize and propagate to help people agree, promptly hand over clean land, contributing to the modernization of rural and urban areas.

Mr. Hoang Van Ha - representative of an infrastructure construction enterprise in Kon Tum - said: "The rapid construction progress helps avoid capital increase, ensure financial planning and stabilize jobs for workers. The enterprise also has a source of income to pay workers' salaries".

In the first months of 2025, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Construction to urgently plan sand, stone and construction material mines to meet construction needs. At the meeting with the province, some businesses were concerned that long-distance material transportation could push up prices. However, the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that it will ensure sufficient sand and stone mining locations to serve the construction of infrastructure, transportation and housing.

Currently, Kon Tum has 36 mines that have won the auction for mineral exploitation rights, and are in the process of completing legal procedures to grant a license. Of which, 18 mines that won the auction in 2024 are preparing documents to grant mineral exploration licenses; 4 mines have been granted exploration licenses but have not yet approved reserves; 3 mines have approved reserves but have not yet submitted documents to apply for investment policies...
