According to the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), by the evening of September 11, 15/17 coal industry units had grid electricity to serve production. Nui Beo and Ha Lam mines in Ha Long City were the last mines in the coal industry to be supplied with grid electricity at the latest on the morning of September 12.
Since the afternoon of September 11, some units have started production immediately after the power grid was restored.
Speaking to Lao Dong on the morning of September 12, Mr. Pham Quoc Viet - Director of Cao Son Coal Joint Stock Company, Cam Pha City - said that the company had resumed operations since the afternoon of September 11 with 100% of its staff. During the recent storm No. 3, the company had some of its corrugated iron roofs blown off, but due to heavy rain, the water in the coal mine (open-pit coal mine) increased by about 1 million m3, up to 3 million m3. Therefore, in addition to mining coal, the company has increased its manpower and machinery to pump water up.

In order to restore production early, since September 10, Duong Huy Coal Company has used generators and pulled a power line from a nearby company to re-check the entire mine, so that when there is grid power, it can operate immediately. According to a representative of Duong Huy Coal Company, the company has basically resumed coal mining, with only a small part still without electricity because the power pole supplying this part is broken and has not been repaired yet.
Since the afternoon of September 11, some coal mines in Cam Pha have begun to send coal to Cua Ong Coal Selection Company for processing, screening, and supplying to customers.
On the morning of September 12, the first tons of coal were loaded onto ships to supply to customers.
In the Ha Long coal area, Hon Gai Coal Company also restarted production on the afternoon of September 11. On the first day of resuming production, coal output reached 50% of normal days, over 70% of workers went to work and will gradually increase depending on mining conditions. Because, according to Mr. Nguyen Cong Dang - Deputy Director of Hon Gai Coal Company, due to the influence of the storm circulation, there was a lot of rain and very heavy rain, so the amount of water seeping into the furnace was more than normal. Therefore, the company is organizing on-call to handle the drainage pump, only areas that are safe and have no risk of water will be allowed to produce.
On the other hand, because the newly put into operation power lines still have a high risk of grid outages, the company is still organizing 24/7 on-call duty to resolve incidents when the grid is out.
In the Uong Bi - Dong Trieu coal region, from September 11 to the morning of September 12, coal mining companies also restored production activities.
According to a representative of Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, Uong Bi City, mining units at levels 0 to -105 have been mining coal since September 11; at deeper levels, they are still surveying the underground situation, especially the risk of water accumulation, and will only start mining coal when the indicators are safe.
