Many stores have discounts, but are still waiting for customers.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper, although this weekend is officially Black Friday, fashion, cosmetics, electronic equipment, and household appliance stores have launched a series of promotional programs, with discounts of up to 80%.
However, according to some retailers, the number of shoppers on Black Friday this year has decreased significantly compared to last year. Ms. Ngoc Anh, owner of a fashion store in Dang Van Ngu, Hanoi, said: “At this time last year, my store launched promotional programs, and the number of customers coming to buy was very large.
However, this year, the shopping atmosphere is quite gloomy, although I have been selling items from 10-50% since the beginning of the week. Compared to last year, the number of customers this year has decreased by 20-30%. Hopefully from now until the end of the week, the number of customers coming to buy will be more crowded."
Hearing that her favorite fashion brand announced a promotion program "same price 49K, 99K, 199K in all stores" on Black Friday, Ms. Nguyen Van (Tay Mo, Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) was also eager to go to a store on Cau Giay street to hunt for sales (discounts).
However, when she arrived at the store, Ms. Van found that the discounted items as advertised were mostly very old and had very few models. On the shelves were mainly items priced at 299K, 399K and 499K. The same prices of 49K, 99K, 199K throughout the store were just a trick to attract customers.
According to Ms. Van, in recent years, to stimulate consumer demand, many fashion stores have offered big discounts, giving customers many opportunities to shop, so not many customers are interested in Black Friday.
"Shopping on Black Friday, people are crowded, while the clothes are not beautiful. It is worth mentioning that many stores exaggerate by saying that the entire store is 70-80% off, but when you go there, only the old models are heavily discounted, the new models are only 10-20% off, not much different from normal days," said Ms. Van.
