According to information from the Hanoi Market Management Department, on November 13-14, 2024, Market Management Team No. 2 (Hoan Kiem District) discovered and handled many cases of trading in electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products with signs of smuggling.
Accordingly, on November 13, 2024, Market Management Team No. 2 inspected a business household in Hang Bong Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. Through the inspection, Market Management Team No. 2 temporarily seized 80 products, including: 50 disposable electronic cigarette machines and 30 bottles of essential oil for electronic cigarette machines manufactured abroad without invoices or documents.
On the same day, Market Management Team No. 2 inspected a business household in Ly Thai To Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. Here, the inspection team discovered that the establishment was trading 70 products, including: 50 disposable electronic cigarette machines and 20 bottles of essential oils for electronic cigarette machines manufactured abroad without invoices or documents. The inspection team temporarily seized all the violating goods to handle them according to regulations.
Next, on November 14, Market Management Team No. 2 inspected two business locations on Nguyen Huu Huan Street, Hoan Kiem and Chan Cam Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
In 2 days (November 13-14), Market Management Team No. 2 temporarily seized 420 products including disposable electronic cigarette machines and essential oils for electronic cigarette machines manufactured abroad without invoices or documents proving that they were smuggled goods.
Currently, the cases are being verified and clarified by Market Management Team No. 2 for handling according to the provisions of law.

A survey in 34 provinces and cities in 2020 showed that the rate of e-cigarette use among adults aged 15 and over increased 18 times from 0.2% in 2015 to 3.6% in 2020, with the highest concentration in the age group from 15 to 24 years old.
The results of the survey related to the use of electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products by age groups show that the demand and use among young people, especially women, is also increasing.
