On November 11, 2024, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man chaired the second group of questions in the health sector. The current situation of using electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products is an issue of concern to many delegates.

Responding to questions from delegates regarding the current situation of using e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan affirmed that e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products are increasing rapidly and pose many potential risks to people's health and lives, especially for young people.

A survey in 34 provinces and cities in 2020 showed that the rate of e-cigarette use among adults aged 15 and over increased 18 times from 0.2% in 2015 to 3.6% in 2020, with the highest concentration in the age group from 15 to 24 years old.

The results of the survey related to the use of electronic cigarettes and heated tobacco products by age groups show that the demand and use among young people, especially women, is also increasing.
