Reduce output pressure
The trend of green and clean consumption is creating a potential market for agricultural products. In order to seize opportunities, many farmers and cooperatives have made efforts to apply VietGAP, Globalgap, ... into production. This not only helps to increase the value of agricultural products but also protects the environment and plants.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Member of Truong Khuong A Garden Cooperative (Phong Dien District, Can Tho City) - shared that agricultural materials used to care for breast milk garden are all organic. Although the price is high, the fruit yield and plant life expectancy are better.
"Breast milk produced according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP standards are purchased by enterprises for export at a price of 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg compared to domestic consumption. Thanks to that, the profit of each crop is also higher than traditional farming," Thanh said.
In the context of fluctuating export markets, especially earlier this year, China tightened the criteria of durian import, Mr. Tran Van Chien - Director of Truong Khuong A Orchard Cooperative - became more aware of the importance of quality and food safety in agricultural production.
Mr. Chien said that not only international but even domestic consumers are increasingly preferring clean agricultural products. Therefore, green, clean and environmentally friendly production helps agricultural products of cooperatives to consume more easily in the domestic and export markets.
"Along with farming according to food safety standards, the cooperative also recommends that people lower the cost of input materials and offer a reasonable production process. Since then, when the export market is difficult, people can consume domestic at a lower price but still profitable," Mr. Chien said.
Quality accompanying food safety
According to Mr. Le Thanh Tung - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Gardening Association - exporting agricultural products in general or fruit in particular, there are always factors that need to be concerned. The first is the quality of agricultural products. This is always accompanied by plant varieties and the needs of the import country.
Besides quality, food safety is also an important factor determining the import of agricultural products of a country. If the fruit is delicious but not safe, they are willing to refuse," Mr. Tung said.
