On August 29, 2024, Viettel Telecom Corporation officially announced the launch of the 4K high-quality movie viewing service on TV360. This is the next application of Viettel 5G in daily life, gradually forming a 5G ecosystem.
4K video is displayed with 4 times more pixels than the usual full HD resolution such as: sharp images, detailed to every corner, vibrant colors, and large image space. Watching 4K movies on TV360, users will experience smooth, continuous image quality, without interruption, freezing or jumping, creating comfort and completeness. In particular, this experience will be of the highest quality when customers use the 5G network, which will be provided nationwide by Viettel in the fourth quarter of this year.
During the initial launch, Viettel offers free 4G/5G Viettel data when watching 4K movies on TV360, allowing customers to freely experience a library of world-famous blockbuster and action movies with spectacular and dramatic scenes.
TV360 has arranged 4K movie collections scientifically, separately and reasonably, helping users easily search and choose their favorite movies to watch. In particular, the 4K movie library will be continuously updated, bringing diversity and freshness to customers.
Currently in Vietnam, TV360 is one of the few TV applications that provide 4K movie library to users. Moreover, with the advantage of being the leading network provider in providing 5G service, 4K movies provided by Viettel are significantly different, mainly related to connection speed, video streaming quality, and user experience.
With 5G network speeds many times faster than 4G, with average download speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to over 1 Gbps under ideal conditions. This allows for faster 4K video downloads, reduced wait times, and virtually no lag when streaming. 4G network speeds range from 20 Mbps to 100 Mbps, which is still enough to stream 4K video, but may have some limitations compared to 5G.
In terms of stability, thanks to wider bandwidth and advanced technology, 5G provides a more stable connection, less affected by network congestion and surrounding environment. This results in the best possible visual and audio experience, smoother than 4G.
Before announcing the early provision of 5G services such as 4K movies and meCall waiting videos, Viettel pioneered the research and successful deployment of the first standalone 5G network in Vietnam (5G Standalone (SA). Different from 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) developed on 4G network infrastructure, 5G SA is a more advanced and completely independent version that helps improve flexibility, scalability and provide multiple services.
