On the morning of May 10, in Hoi An City, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province coordinated with the Ministry of Health to organize a conference to implement Decision 463/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, on approving the Project "Developing and forming a medicinal industrial center in Quang Nam province with Ngoc Linh ginseng as the main plant".
Ngoc Linh ginseng - national pharmaceutical brand
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long assessed that the construction of a medicinal plant industrial center in Quang Nam is the right, important, and strategic direction to bring the national medicinal plant industry to international competition.

According to the Ministry of Health, Ngoc Linh ginseng is one of the rarest ginseng species in the world, considered a national treasure with more than 110 bioactive compounds, including 81 types of saponins. If invested properly, this ginseng variety can completely become a national brand, on par with Korean ginseng and American ginseng.
According to Decision 463/QD-TTg, the Pharmaceutical Industry Center in Quang Nam will be the unit for research, production, deep processing and commercialization of medicinal products, with Ngoc Linh ginseng as the main plant.
The project sets out many key goals: Developing raw material areas that meet GACP-WHO standards, focusing on Nam Tra My and mountainous districts; building a closed value chain from research - cultivation - processing - distribution - product promotion;
Invest in industrial infrastructure associated with Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, attracting high-tech enterprises to produce pharmaceuticals and functional foods; linking the development of medicinal herbs with forest protection, sustainable livelihoods and community tourism; Deploying the 5-house linkage model: State - farmers - businesses - scientists - banks.
Towards the country's drug rehabilitation center
Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee said: "This is the right time to unleash the potential of medicinal herbs. The province is committed to reforming administrative procedures, creating a transparent and stable investment environment for businesses to feel secure in staying long-term".
The province also recommended that the Government consider specific mechanisms on credit, land policies, leasing of forest environmental services and scientific research. At the same time, promote digital transformation in monitoring growing areas and tracing the origin of products.
According to the Institute of Pharmaceuticals (Ministry of Health), Quang Nam currently has up to 832 species of medicinal plants, of which 36 species are in the Vietnam Red Book. Ngoc Linh ginseng alone grows at an altitude of 1,500 - 2,100m on the Ngoc Linh range, under dense forests - a unique condition that cannot be found anywhere else.
Developing the medicinal herb industry is not only an economic solution, but also a strategy for forest resource conservation and sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minorities - Mr. Triet emphasized.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long expressed his confidence that with the attention from the Government and determination from the locality and the active and enthusiastic support of businesses, scientists, etc., Quang Nam will soon become the "medicinal capital" of the country, where high-quality medicinal products meet international standards are produced.
