Lao Dong Newspaper reporter had a conversation with a potential young face - singer, musician Ngo Lan Huong. She is the owner of the hit "Walking in the Bright Sky" loved by many young audiences.
Before coming to the program "Em xinh say hi", Ngo Lan Huong had a hit song "Đi giữa trời rực rỡ" that was widely known to the audience, even though this is a song composed for the movie. Can "Đi giữa trời rực rỡ" be considered Ngo Lan Huong's most brilliant success to date?
- That's right, "Walking in the Bright Sky" is a song that helped me make a strong impression in the hearts of the audience. Before that, I also had some songs that spread on social networks. However, it was not until the song "Walking in the Bright Sky" that many audiences knew the name Ngo Lan Huong instead of just remembering the melodies of my songs.
Going in the Bright Sky" has achieved success, but it may also be a big shadow in Ngo Lan Huong's career that makes her strive to overcome it, are you worried about this "big shadow"?
- First of all, I feel lucky because in an artist's life, having a hit song is already very gratifying. I cherish that. "Walking in the Bright Sky" is a very inspiring, positive song, imbued with my personal colors. My later songs will also follow that path - writing and bringing to the audience the most "me" products.
I value the connection from heart to heart. Therefore, I do not consider that song as a shadow, but as a stepping stone for me to get closer to the audience and bring even more quality products in the future.
For many artists, it takes a lot of time to compose - and to become famous. It can even take almost half a lifetime. But, Ngo Lan Huong is still young, and became famous right from the first compositions. Is that luck, or early talent revealed - according to you?
- I once heard that luck will come to those with abilities. A success will include many factors, from favorable weather, geographical advantages, harmony, both personal efforts and surrounding conditions.
Going in the Bright Sky" is also not the first product I have released, because I started artistic activities in 2017 after The Voice program.
By 2024, I have released 5 songs, some songs have spread to the audience, some songs do not have the expected good results. I have had a long time of training and cultivating with music. Coming to "Walking in the Bright Sky", I have had a certain maturity and also the element of luck, the song is known to many audiences.
When Ngo Lan Huong participated in "Em xinh say hi", many people expected that you would go deep in this race. However, you were eliminated early. Now, when there is a lag in time, how do you explain that you participated and had to stop early?
- "Em xinh say hi" is a memorable experience for me. Deciding to participate in the program, I want to step into a new environment with more challenges, meet many colleagues. I participate with the mindset of playing my best, so I don't put much emphasis on going far in the program, just do my best.
When I went to the competition, although I tried my best, there were other factors such as favorable weather, geographical advantage, and harmony, so when I stopped, I felt a little regret. I still maintained a close relationship with the sisters after the program. That is a great opportunity for me to learn and connect with other artists.
For many young artists, they see reality TV - as an opportunity to change their lives, "one step to fame". If they get a position in the Top 5, or a Champion - Runner-up, the cat-xe price will change rapidly. What about Ngo Lan Huong? Will "Em xinh say hi" change your life?
- "Em xinh say hi" changed me the most in the way I defined my image. Before participating in the show, I received many mixed opinions about my dressing style. Coming to "Em xinh say hi", people not only compete in music but also fashion. Therefore, I have also learned how to dress neatly and more appropriately.
Although I stopped early, I don't see "Em xinh say hi" as a life-changing success, but it is a milestone that helps me learn a lot, accumulate capital for later music products.
After "Em xinh say hi", are you on the list of "em xinh" who are more sought-after, with higher cat-xe...?
- I don't know what cat-xe other sisters have to answer this question. The most important thing is that I focus on my career. "Em xinh say hi" helps me have a higher level of recognition, especially with young audiences, helping me have more opportunities to perform at universities, working with brands targeting young people.
The cultural industry in general, and the performing arts industry in particular, are making strong breakthroughs. Do you think that great opportunities are opening up to help artists become more professional in their profession and have a better standard of living?
- In recent years, the performing arts industry in Vietnam has been supported more, creating more playgrounds for artists and meeting the entertainment needs of the audience. I see that as an opportunity but also a challenge, a great responsibility for artists.
Artists need to be responsible for what they bring to the audience, cultivate ethics, and have a persistent will to do the job. As the performing arts market expands, competition also increases, from which artists need to take care of and focus on their strength. Great competition also leads to more rapid elimination.
To go long with art, artists need to preserve core values instead of chasing after frivolous things.
Along with the opportunity to work, there is also the responsibility to maintain the image of an artist. What do you think about maintaining your image?
- Opportunities always go hand in hand with challenges and responsibilities. Artists are people who can create a great influence on the audience, especially young people. Each artist must be very aware of responsibility, be careful in their statements and actions. Artists need to maintain their image and not let deviant images affect the younger generation of audiences.
Showbiz is known as a place full of temptations. There have been young artists who have slipped and fallen. What does Ngo Lan Huong think about the environment in showbiz?
- I believe that in any environment there will always be downsides, showbiz is also like that. The important thing is that I know what I want, who I am, what I have and always control myself.
Regarding the path I choose to go, I have seen opportunities, and temptations. But I always want to take a long and sustainable path. I focus on expertise, composing even when no one knows about it. At that time, I will focus on the core values I want to pursue.
Being confident and maintaining faith in my own value will help me overcome all temptations.
