First, I spend time on the stage when I started graduating. After graduation, I spent time with the plays. When I had a certain success with the stage, I started focusing on dramas. And after television, in 2025 will be a time when I want to start investing in cinema.
Thanh Son is a special actor, he comes from the stage of the Youth Theater, but is famous from the drama, and is replicating the image and personal brand in the field of film. Is it a big turning point in your career?
- It was a step forward than a turning point. I hope that each genre will give me different emotions, different experiences and also learn different things. At the stage, I learned many things, television or cinema, too, all helped me in acting. It was my passion, and I hope for every work, I can show the audience a change of Thanh Son, with maturity through every role.
In the filmmaker, there is often a silent comparison between movies and dramas. Accordingly, the cinema of the new screen is the 7th art. From the perspective of an actor, how do you see when from the small screen to the big screen?
- From my perspective, I don't think so much. I have no more evaluation. Because of the most important thing for an actor, it is to convey emotions to the audience. When reading and understanding the emotions of the character, understanding the script, the good actor can make the audience understand that emotion.
With the most important actor is still expressing emotions, showing the story. And where the story is, in cinema, stage, television, where that character is, for me is not important. The last thing that is still the audience can understand that story like an actor?
At this point, what does the reputation mean to him?
- I myself have ever been working because it requires fame. I do not pursue popularity but pursue development at work. I am very happy with living, working properly with my passion, working right with my field of study. That's what makes me very happy. Before I was an actor, I was an audience, I watched a lot. At the present time, there are still many things that I have not done and want to do.
After many years of filming, there are many works that resonate, there are some people who think that Thanh Son is famous for his beautiful appearance, he still has a color in the roles. How do you face mixed opinions?
- There is a fact that I am always afraid to be praised as handsome. I have never built my image in the direction of being an actor with appearance. I want people to look at my acting ability because it's my passion.
Maybe I'm fortunate to have an easy -to -see appearance, which is favorable for me. However, I hope the audience loves me because of its acting ability, not because of appearance. As for the audience to comment on me a color, I face it easily because I have realized it for a long time.
With every role, I find no audience as fastidious as myself. No matter what the audience says, I still see the audience who is favoring me, because myself looking back at my works I was much more fastidious. It can be said that I am the most fastidious audience when watching myself acting.

I used to get used to the stage, when I conveyed a sentence without receiving feedback from the audience, I would immediately find a way to change the next day. When I acted in a drama or film, if I wanted to change, I had to wait for the character later, the following work.
I think, I just need to be honest with myself. I stood in the audience position and must be a fastidious audience, review myself. When I did well, I recognized myself. I still often review the good segments, watch and laugh happily, watch it over and over. But if I didn't do it well, I was not too stressful, but learned from experience to do better.

- After more than 10 years, I have returned to the cinema since the movie "The smell of burning grass". The plastic film format at that time, the actor had to practice a lot before each scene, because just a little error will have to completely remove the film. Currently, cinema has been very developed and thanks to this film, I have experienced many things, from machinery and equipment, production scale to the capacity of the crew.
There are many machines I have never seen, films filmed by flycam to recreate the majestic and monumental context. It was a very new experience for me.
This role is not long but gives me the opportunity to go many places. No movie I have moved so much. I went to 18 places, went to 8 different cities within 14 days.
In that journey, I find Vietnam so beautiful. Phu Quoc and Sa Pa are very beautiful. In Hanoi, the film crew turned into the anniversary of the liberation of the capital 10.10 so the atmosphere was very bustling and playful. I am happy to see such a memorable Hanoi.
Temple of the cinema after many years of attachment to the stage and television, will Thanh Son have a dream to become a "hundred billion actor" of the big screen?
- "The hundred billion actor" is not a dream but what I aim for. At work, there is a development or not, it is also necessary to have a recognition, a milestone is needed to show that I am developing and going up.
Hopefully in the future, I have the opportunity to participate in a quality product, with the recognition of the audience. A hundred billion film must be a movie that has the love of the audience in order to have such a large amount of tickets. The important thing of an actor is that is the same, getting the recognition of the audience.

- I think the audience "pushing the boat" is an understandable. I am doing a romantic movie, what I convey to the audience is the emotion and emotion that is loved. Therefore, when the audience welcomes emotions, they also return the feelings of love for the characters and the actors as well.
However, in the near future, I want to test other genres such as action, detective, horror. If I switch to that genre and still appeared rumors, then I should review myself.
