In 2024, experts highly appreciated Bich Tuyen's performance. Specific indicators in recent tournaments have also proven your performance. How does Bich Tuyen evaluate her own performance?
- In 2024, I feel that I have matured a certain amount in terms of mentality and playing skills. This is a happy year for me, I am happy with the titles that the team has achieved. I think it is time for me to be more confident to express myself.
This year, I am very happy and emotional to return to the team. I am very honored and proud to be able to participate in tournaments with my teammates.
Over the past year, Bich Tuyen has had many important tournaments with the team and club. Do you have any memorable memories after this journey?
- At the 2024 Asian Club Championship, LPB Ninh Binh participated in the tournament with a relaxed spirit, determined to go as far as possible. We tried and stuck together, and finally reached the final, winning a ticket to the World Club Championship.
Initially, when competing in the Asian Club Championship, we, the players, and the coaching staff did not focus on results. Thanks to that, the team did not feel any psychological pressure, but only determined that this was the place where the team would step out into the ocean, learn, hone skills and knowledge from strong opponents, and gradually develop ourselves for the next tournaments.
Looking back on the past journey, does Bich Tuyen have any regrets about her profession?
- I have a more stable competitive mentality and a more confident fighting spirit when participating in such big tournaments. I have the courage to confront opponents with higher level and technique, especially teams with good physique. But my biggest regret is the final match of VTV Cup 2024. The opponents were too strong and their physique was also superior to the Vietnamese team. This is the first time I have participated in VTV Cup in the national team jersey, but I have not been able to win the championship, so I am quite regretful.
This tournament I played at home in Ninh Binh, the audience also cheered very enthusiastically, creating a wonderful atmosphere. That final match was the most memorable for me. However, the defeat will be a lesson for me to learn from and compete better in the following tournaments.
Vietnamese players are having more and more opportunities to play abroad. Does Bich Tuyen expect that to happen next year? What will Bich Tuyen prioritize when considering going abroad?
- Regarding going abroad, I have received advice from many people. I am in the process of choosing which country is suitable for my ability. Because I think I should climb step by step, so as not to be overwhelmed. My level is only average, so I have to consider carefully.
I received a few invitations last year, but they came from volleyball countries that were too developed compared to Vietnam. Not to mention, regarding the language issue, I have not improved myself enough. I am still learning English for convenience in living and practicing in the future. When I feel that I have accumulated enough technique, physical strength, and language, I will be ready to move to a truly developed volleyball country.
I have been studying English for almost a year now. I still arrange my competitions, training and studies to improve myself. Whether I go abroad or not, foreign languages are still a means to help me in many aspects of my daily life. I am a culture lover, I want to have foreign languages to communicate with foreign teams when I compete. When I go abroad, the economic story is partly, but the important thing is what I learn there, and what I bring back to the national team, that is something worth thinking about.
Next year, the women's volleyball team will participate in the SEA Games and the World Championship. Preparing for the big milestones in 2025, what is Bich Tuyen's goal?
- I am very honored to be a part of the journey to bring the Vietnamese team to the World Championship. The efforts of the whole team have been rewarded, we have made history by winning a ticket to this prestigious tournament. If possible, I really hope to contribute to making history for the Vietnamese Volleyball Team in this arena.
Now, Bich Tuyen is more famous and appears in the media more. Besides the loving and caring fans, there will still be many opposing opinions and attacks that are beyond your expertise. How do you deal with those?
- Compared to before, I am now somewhat more confident. My mentality is also more stable. I feel more mature every year. But in the past, with conflicting opinions, sometimes it made me think. There was a time when I thought too much and it affected my mentality. But actually, I know there are still many people who love me. There are audiences who love me, and there are also people who say bad things about me. I think I should overcome those things to train my will and become more confident.
I have to try for them, the people who always encourage and comfort me, I have to contribute and serve the team. The attacks on me are not too heavy, I overcome them because I still hope above all to be given the opportunity to contribute. I know I should focus on those good things. I have been passionate about sports since I was a primary school student. Later, when I was in secondary school, I fell in love with volleyball and loved sports even more. I hope to pursue a career, that is a greater motivation than anything else.
