Vu Thi Trang has just won the 2025 Vietnam International Series Badminton Championship after many years of not achieving high results in the international arena.
After 5 years of winning the final
I dont know what to say, this was an emotional win. I still practice persistently to maintain good form even though I am no longer at my peak, but the fact that I entered the final and won was surprising. The match gave me many things. Most importantly, I won the international championship at home, Vu Thi Trang told the press when she won the women's singles championship of the Vietnam International Series 2025 International Badminton Tournament held in Ninh Binh (closing on October 26).
Looking at statistics, this tennis player has not won championships at international tournaments that she participated in since 2020 until before competing in the Vietnam International Series 2025 in Ninh Binh. Although the tournament is at the International series level, Vu Thi Trang's women's singles championship is still highly appreciated by experts.
A year ago, Vu Thi Trang confided that she was no longer at the peak of her form but never intended to back down, so she always tried her best to improve her achievements through international tournaments. In the plan, Vu Thi Trang clearly understands when to decide to rest to focus on coaching. Because she is 33 years old. The form will go hand in hand with age. As we age, we lose endurance and flexibility. However, Vu Thi Trang has never run out of love for badminton.
"We highly appreciate Vu Thi Trang's focus on her expertise. As everyone can see in 2025, Vu Thi Trang will still participate in all national tournaments and many international tournaments of the Vietnam Badminton Team. This tennis player still has many experiences that young athletes can learn from, said Mr. Khoa Trung Kien, head of badminton (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports).
SEA Games is an opportunity for yourself
Vu Thi Trang has participated in 6 international tournaments since the beginning of 2025. Of which, 3 tournaments left her with emotions: the 2025 World Championship, the 2025 Vietnam Open Championship and the 2025 Vietnam International Series. In August this year, the tennis player returned to France to participate in the 2025 World Championship and reached the women's singles doubles round. "Each tournament gives me different professional results, but this is a valuable accumulation of skills for myself," Vu Thi Trang added.
The coaching staff of the Vietnam Badminton Team has developed a plan to continue selecting Vu Thi Trang to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in December in Thailand. Looking back at her expertise, after her husband, tennis player Nguyen Tien Minh, was no longer a member of the national team, Vu Thi Trang is the oldest and most experienced player in the Vietnam Badminton Team in 2025. It is a blessing that Vu Thi Trang continues to be given the opportunity to return to Thailand to participate in the SEA Games.
18 years ago, Vu Thi Trang participated in the SEA Games for the first time in 2007, also held in Thailand. Through sharing with the press, Vu Thi Trang said that attending the 2007 SEA Games was a surprise for her because it was the first time she (at that time Vu Thi Trang was only 15 years old) competed at the Southeast Asian Games.
Looking at her achievements, Vu Thi Trang is still the Vietnamese women's badminton player with the most impressive results in the SEA Games arena to date. She won 3 Bronze Medals at the SEA Games. I think the turning point of my career will probably be winning the Women's Singles Medal for the first time at the 2013 SEA Games. After winning the medal, I realized that I became the first female athlete to do this for Vietnamese badminton. This is a truly valuable medal, Vu Thi Trang recalled.
After that, Vu Thi Trang continued to play impressively to successfully defend the individual Bronze Medal at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore. At the 31st SEA Games held in 2022 in Vietnam, Vu Thi Trang won the Bronze Medal in the women's team event.
In 2016, Vu Thi Trang achieved an official Olympic spot for the first time. Fans and experts still remember the image of the couple Vu Thi Trang and Nguyen Tien Minh attending the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics (Brazil) and becoming professional supporters for each other on the ring. Returning home from Brazil that year, in some exchanges with the press, Vu Thi Trang said that attending the Olympics was an honor for her, and at the same time, each time participating in such a big arena helped her gain more courage to compete against international opponents.
After 18 years, since 2007, Vu Thi Trang is actively preparing professionally to find opportunities to conquer
wear medals at this year's SEA Games in Thailand. The coaching staff has developed a professional forecast and prepared appropriate forces to find opportunities to compete for medals in key events in badminton at the 33rd SEA Games.
We understand that female tennis players like Vu Thi Trang or Nguyen Thuy Linh are stabilizing their performance. However, tactical factors will determine success. Vu Thi Trang is one of the experienced people, so we trust her, shared General Secretary of the Vietnam Badminton Federation - Mr. Le Thanh Ha.
The future finds a successor
The record of the Vietnamese female tennis player holding the highest position on the BWF world rankings by Vu Thi Trang has been surpassed by her junior Nguyen Thuy Linh. In her career, Vu Thi Trang has the highest position of 34th in the world. Currently, tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh is ranked 17th in the world by BWF.
Vu Thi Trang is the most typical representative that Bac Giang badminton (old) (now Bac Ninh) has produced to compete for memorable results for the country's badminton. Now, she is an athlete of Ho Chi Minh City Sports. Many times, Vu Thi Trang has revealed that there will be a time when she will aim for a career as a professional coach, training young faces to follow in the footsteps of her seniors. Vu Thi Trang still hopes that she will have a student to bring glory to her country's badminton, ranked on the BWF rankings.
Many years ago, when we met and talked with Mr. Pham Van Vu, who imparted the first basic techniques of badminton to Vu Thi Trang, the local football coach confided: I really like Vu Thi Trang. She practiced very hard and became a highlight of Vietnamese badminton. Badminton, like many sports, is a matter of hard work and hard work to be a priority to achieve success. Vu Thi Trang always does this well. Right when she was practicing, Trang expressed her desire to become a badminton coach when she grew up....
In Vu Thi Trang, professionals always appreciate her modesty and willingness to learn. In addition, Vu Thi Trang has accumulated her expertise very methodically to carry out professional competitions and can also become a coach in the future.
