People with disabilities receive vocational training to work
At AJ Solutions Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Chau Duc Industrial Park, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province), there are about 1,438 workers working in stages to make handbags, suitcases, etc. Among them, there are some workers with disabilities who are also working enthusiastically like other normal workers.
Mr. Phan Thanh Quoc (sewing worker) said that he has worked for 5 years at the company since its inception. Up to now, his life and his family are quite stable.
Having suffered a traffic accident since 2012, Mr. Quoc lost his right leg, his life was like a deadlock due to disability and inferiority complex, so he went to Dong Nai to live. In 2019, after getting married (also disabled and unable to work), he returned to Chau Duc district to find a job.
"At first, I submitted my application in many places but was rejected because I was afraid of my ability to work. Thanks to a security guard's introduction, I learned that this company accepts disabled workers. After submitting my application, I was admitted, instructed and trained to do the right job. At that time, the company only had 4-5 sewing lines with a few hundred workers, not as crowded as it is now" - Mr. Quoc shared.
Currently, Mr. Quoc's income is more than 8 million VND/month, and during the months of overtime, his income is more than 9 million VND, so it is enough to cover the living expenses of his family of 4.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Quang (a deaf worker) who is also working at a sewing line said that he has been in the job for more than 3 years. "My income here is higher than in other places and I am helped by my colleagues, as well as supported by the union" - Mr. Quang expressed through his handwritten gestures.
Supporting the creation of conditions for people with disabilities from small details
According to Mr. Quoc, when he first started working, the company created conditions for him to get acquainted, and then gave him detailed instructions so that he could work like other workers. "Up to now, I can work as normal workers, so I am not under any pressure at work. Moreover, the factory also creates conditions for us to have certain advantages" - Mr. Quoc said.
That is, disabled workers will be given a short break early to leave the production area so as not to jostle when moving at the same time as other workers; during lunchtime, disabled workers are given the opportunity to arrive early so as not to have to wait long, or have difficulty moving...
According to Mr. Quang, when he first started working, it was very difficult to communicate with others to get instructions on how to work or assign work. With the company and the union's attention, the factory has arranged a number of workers to learn and learn the language of deaf people, thereby being able to communicate and guide deaf workers to do their job well like other workers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - Chairman of the Trade Union of AJ Solutions Manufacturing Co., Ltd. - said that from the beginning, the trade union proposed and was approved by the company's Board of Directors to accept disabled people to work, depending on their ability.
Workers with disabilities who do not know how to do it will be instructed and trained in vocational skills to work; those who have a foundation will be instructed to work according to the company's standards like other normal workers.
In addition, grassroots trade unions have paid attention to and created favorable conditions for workers with disabilities, so that they can work with peace of mind, generate income, and stabilize their lives.
For example, in each production line, there are deaf workers, arranged with people to communicate and work next to them, to support these workers in work and communicate with those around them, creating peace of mind and workers not feeling lonely in the factory environment.
Like some other businesses, the company is in need of recruiting more workers to expand production. If there are disabled workers, the company will still accept the application for testing and arranging work in accordance with their ability, in the spirit of creating conditions for workers" - Mr. Nam said.
