The Trade Union Shelter Program implemented by the Cao Bang Provincial Federation of Labor (CLF) has helped many union members escape from temporary, dilapidated housing.

Ms. Chu Thi Huong - a teacher at Le Chung Primary School (Hoa An District), her husband does not have a stable job, her children are too young, and her low salary makes her family always have to spend frugally. Previously, the whole family had to stay at her brother's house. Recently, the Hoa An District Labor Federation awarded 40 million VND from the Social Fund allocated by the Cao Bang Provincial Labor Federation to support Ms. Huong to build a 90m2 level 4 house. In addition to the supported amount, her family borrowed more to build a new house with a total cost of 300 million VND.

Ms. Huong shared: “I am very happy and grateful to the Labor Federation at all levels for their attention and financial support from the Social Fund so that my family can build a spacious, safe and comfortable house. From now on, my family will feel more secure when having our own house and not having to stay with relatives anymore.”

With the motto "Where workers are in difficulty, there is a trade union", in recent times, trade unions at all levels in Cao Bang province have focused on taking care of workers, especially supporting union members with difficult housing circumstances.

This activity includes repairing and building new Union Shelters. This is a meaningful program, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and mutual love between union members and workers, to help each other in life.

In Hoa An district alone, from 2012 to present, the district Labor Federation has supported the construction of 32 houses for union members from the Social Fund allocated by the Cao Bang Provincial Labor Federation, with a total amount of 440 million VND, including 27 new houses and 5 repaired houses.

With the goal of helping all union members not have to live in temporary or dilapidated houses, the Cao Bang Provincial Labor Federation launched a fundraising movement among cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers.

Since the beginning of the year, the Cao Bang Provincial Federation of Labor has mobilized more than 1.3 billion VND. The unit also surveyed and supported the construction of 34 Trade Union Shelters for union members in especially difficult circumstances and suffering from serious illnesses, with a total cost of over 1.1 billion VND.

The representative of the Cao Bang Provincial Federation of Labor said that through the program of building a Trade Union Shelter, the Trade Union organization has increasingly affirmed its role and position in caring for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers, contributing to the effective implementation of poverty reduction programs, eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.

In the coming time, the unit will continue to promote propaganda and mobilization to build the Social Fund, while maintaining the fund's operations effectively and in accordance with regulations, so that more and more Trade Union Shelters will be built.
