At the conference, leaders of the Education sector and the Hai Phong Education Trade Union thanked the timely support and sharing of agencies, organizations, businesses, philanthropists, and all cadres, teachers, workers and students. The cooperation of groups, individuals and the community is a great motivation for cadres, teachers, workers and students in the city as well as the northern mountainous provinces to overcome difficulties; soon stabilize their lives and bring teaching and learning activities back to normal.
According to the report of the Hai Phong Education Trade Union, storm No. 3 caused an estimated 375 billion VND in damage to the city's education sector, with 100% of schools and educational facilities affected.
By 10:30 a.m. on October 7, the Hai Phong Education sector had mobilized nearly 4 billion VND along with many gifts in kind. Of which, more than 3.2 billion VND was donated by collectives, individuals, officials, teachers, workers, students, and philanthropists in Hai Phong city; 700 million VND from the Vietnam Education Trade Union, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), and the Departments of Education and Training of other provinces to help overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3 in Hai Phong city.
The Education Sector and the Trade Union of the sector awarded funds to support 237 teachers, workers, 1,149 students, and preschool children with a total budget of 1,737,000,000 VND. Along with that, they visited and supported education in the northern mountainous provinces damaged by storm No. 3 with 301 million VND and 4 trucks of in-kind items (books, supplies, clothes).
The city's Education Department awarded the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Hai Phong City 1.2 billion VND; the remaining amount will be reviewed, supplemented and proposed based on the actual situation by the units for support. In case there are no more beneficiaries, it will be proposed to transfer to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city to support the people who suffered losses.
In addition, with a budget of 700 million VND supported by the Vietnam Education Trade Union, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Departments of Education and Training of other provinces and cities, the Education sector supported the repair of 7 teachers' public houses, and supported urgent repairs to Cat Hai High School, Cat Hai district, which was severely damaged by the storm.
