At the beginning of the year, "welcome" more than 5,000 new union members
According to statistics from the Organizing - Inspection Committee of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the city's trade unions at all levels have established 44 grassroots trade unions, admitting nearly 5,300 new union members. In industrial parks alone, according to Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang - Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the zone Trade Union has established 11 grassroots trade unions, developing 2,640 new union members (including units with trade union organizations and those without trade union organizations).
In districts and towns, the mobilization to develop union members and establish grassroots unions has been vibrant since the first days of the year. Accordingly, Do Son District Labor Federation has continuously established 2 grassroots unions with a large number of employees, the Trade Union of Do Son Tourism and Entertainment One Member Co., Ltd. with 317 union members and the Trade Union of Thuy Thien HK Shoes Co., Ltd. with 160 union members. Both units are non-state enterprises, established and put into operation in Do Son district since 2023.
Recently, the Vinh Bao District Labor Federation also announced the decision to admit 67 union members and establish the Trade Union of Rui Peng Fei Vietnam High-Tech Company Limited, a foreign-invested enterprise, to operate from August 2023.
In Tien Lang district, by March 15, the district Labor Federation had established 3/5 grassroots unions, developing nearly 200 new union members. The District Labor Federation is also continuing to mobilize and prepare necessary procedures to establish a hotel restaurant union and a volunteer driver union with more than 100 union members.
Spending 3 billion VND on union member development
In 2025, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation aims to develop 52,000 union members, including 45,500 grassroots union members and 6,500 grassroots union members.
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, in 2025, the City Labor Federation will spend 3 billion VND on developing union members. Therefore, the City Labor Federation directs units to focus on reviewing, propagating, mobilizing, admitting union members, establishing grassroots unions and trade unions, completing the highest target, striving to maintain Hai Phong's achievement as the leading unit in the country in developing union members.
Particularly during Workers' Month 2025, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation will launch a Peak Month for developing union members and establishing grassroots unions. In particular, trade unions at all levels have stepped up propaganda, mobilized and persuaded workers to raise awareness and voluntarily participate in trade union organizations; focus resources, create a breakthrough in developing union members and establishing grassroots unions, especially in non-state enterprises and workers in the informal sector; establish unions and organize the admission of the "May Union Member Class". The goal this month is to admit at least 10,000 new union members and establish 50 new grassroots unions.
Also in Workers' Month - Peak Month for developing union members, Hai Phong City Labor Federation is planning to organize a number of outstanding events such as Workers' Day with a series of cultural and sports activities such as a team race, a mid-hour physical performance, a labor force swimming tournament, a labor force men's and women's football tournament. At the same time, direct the grassroots trade union to coordinate with employers to organize activities to care for, support, and show gratitude to workers (visiting, giving gifts, giving shopping vouchers; honoring workers who overcome difficulties, outstanding workers, long-time workers...). Thereby, enhancing the role and position of the Trade Union organization, creating a vibrant working and entertainment atmosphere among employees, attracting a large number of employees to join the organization.
