18 years of living with others, female union member of island commune has a house at Trade Union Shelter

NGUYÊN ANH |

Kien Giang - After 18 years of living with relatives, a female union member in an island commune has a new house of her own.

On October 1, the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor (FLD) and the Kien Hai District Federation of Labor organized the handover of the Trade Union Shelter to Ms. Pham Thi Thoa - a member of the Lai Son Commune Trade Union, under the Kien Hai District Federation of Labor.

Union member Pham Thi Thoa is a cultural and social officer of Lai Son commune, having worked in the commune for 19 years. The Kien Hai District Labor Federation said that union member Thoa is an exemplary cadre, always completing her annual tasks well.

Union member Thoa's husband is an office worker - statistician. The union member couple is supporting their elderly parents (father is disabled, mother is unable to work) and 2 children who are still in school.

It is not easy for a couple to earn enough to cover living expenses, take care of two children in school, and elderly parents. Therefore, the members cannot save enough to rebuild their house.

Sharing the situation of union members, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union has proposed that the higher-level Trade Union consider supporting union members to build houses from the Trade Union Shelter Fund.

After more than 2 months of construction, the house was completed and more spacious.

Union member Pham Thi Thoa was very emotional when she got a new house because after many years of living in relatives' houses, she now has her own house.

Ms. Thoa said: “The house is the family's dream and now it has become a reality. A separate home for the family after many years of living with others. The happiest thing is having a stable house that can be put into use in time during the rainy season, which reduces a lot of worries. I am very grateful to the Trade Union for supporting me to have a place to settle down and work with peace of mind.”

At the house handover ceremony, Ms. Trang Thi Bich Ngoc - Vice President of the Kien Giang Provincial Labor Federation - sent her congratulations and hoped that the union members would continue to strive, overcome difficulties, fulfill their assigned tasks, take care of their families, and preserve and renovate the house.

On this occasion, the Kien Giang Provincial Labor Federation and the Kien Hai District Labor Federation also presented 2 gifts to congratulate the union members on their new homes.
