Impressive numbers
On December 10, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held a conference to evaluate the results of 15 years of implementing the Action Program of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to implement Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW dated January 28, 2008 of the 10th Party Central Committee on "Continuing to build the Vietnamese working class in the period of accelerating industrialization and modernization of the country". The conference was broadcast online to connecting points in provinces and cities across the country.
Speaking at the Thanh Hoa bridge, Mr. Vo Manh Son - Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor said that after 15 years of implementing Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW "on building the Vietnamese working class in the period of promoting industrialization and modernization of the country", Thanh Hoa province has achieved many remarkable results.
Trade unions at all levels in the province have organized more than 19,000 propaganda sessions for more than 1.6 million people, distributing nearly 300,000 leaflets, brochures, and handbooks to propagate legal knowledge to workers and civil servants.
Promoting the spirit of focusing on the grassroots, over the past 15 years, Thanh Hoa Trade Union at all levels has taken care of more than 1.2 million union members and workers, with a total value of more than 921 billion VND. Implementing the "Union member and worker welfare program", trade unions at all levels have signed 343 "cooperation agreements" with partners to provide services and product incentives for more than 420,000 union members to benefit, with a total amount of more than 35 billion VND.
The programs and competitions launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the province have achieved many outstanding results. Specifically: The program "75 thousand initiatives, overcoming difficulties, developing" Thanh Hoa Trade Union ranked second nationwide, with more than 30,000 initiatives recorded; The program "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic", ended phase 1, Thanh Hoa led the country, with more than 170,234 initiatives recorded; Phase 2 (until July 30, 2023) is also the leading unit nationwide, with more than 463,000 initiatives participating...
Skills training for union members
In addition to the achievements, at the conference, the Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor also pointed out the shortcomings and difficulties in the past time. Specifically: The lives of the majority of workers in the area still face many difficulties; life in the dormitories with a large concentration of workers does not have cultural facilities for entertainment and recreation activities.
Most of the workers in the area come from rural areas, mainly unskilled laborers, with low levels of education, expertise, and occupation compared to the development requirements of society in the new situation. Some enterprises have not fully implemented policies on wages, social insurance, and labor safety, leading to complaints and collective work stoppages in some places...
Faced with the above shortcomings and difficulties, at the conference, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor Vo Manh Son recommended to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor: Continue to research, synthesize the situation, forecast the development trend of the working class, thereby proposing to the Party and State to build and adjust policies and laws in accordance with the development practice of the Vietnamese working class in each period.
Create a source of funding support for projects for the Labor Federations of provinces and cities in training and improving the skills and professional qualifications of workers; invest in Nghi Son Economic Zone and industrial parks of Thanh Hoa province to build cultural institutions in 2025.
