Accordingly, the Ba Thuoc District Labor Federation approved the admission of 120 freshwater fish farming workers from Ai Thuong Commune, Ba Thuoc District into the Vietnam Trade Union and announced the establishment of the Freshwater Fish Farming Trade Union in Ai Thuong Commune, Ba Thuoc District, Thanh Hoa Province. Mr. Truong Van Son was elected as the provisional Chairman of the Trade Union.
According to the Ba Thuoc District Labor Federation, the Freshwater Fish Farming Union in Ai Thuong Commune is the first grassroots union established in the district and the first Freshwater Fish Farming Union established in Thanh Hoa province.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Vo Manh Son - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Confederation of Labor emphasized that the establishment of a grassroots trade union has a very important political significance, a new step in the task of developing union members and establishing a trade union organization of the Ba Thuoc District Confederation of Labor in particular and the Thanh Hoa Provincial Confederation of Labor in general. The establishment of this fishing trade union aims to better perform the role and tasks of the Trade Union organization in caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, especially in the context of increasingly diverse labor occupations, increasing laborers in the regions and the rights of the majority of workers in the private and freelance sectors are still neglected.
According to Mr. Vo Manh Son, the Freshwater Fish Farming Union in Ai Thuong commune is part of a program to expand union membership across the province to achieve the set goal of 27,000 union members by 2024.
Previously, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor also directed the establishment of the Quang Tien Ward Fisheries Union, Sam Son City with 246 union members, most of whom are fishermen specializing in seafaring.
According to Mr. Le Hung Cuong - Chairman of the Ba Thuoc District Labor Federation, the admission of union members and the establishment of the union is an important milestone, with profound significance for workers working in fish farming in the area. From today, 120 people have been recognized as union members, members of the Vietnam Trade Union - an organization that always puts union members and workers at the center of all activities.
Mr. Le Hung Cuong expressed his belief that the Freshwater Fish Farming Union in Ai Thuong commune will operate effectively, promote the role of the union, be a place of solidarity, gathering, encouragement, help and support each other in their careers and lives; worthy of being a reliable support for union members and workers.
