Funding for the construction of 36 "Union Shelters" in Tay Ninh

Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation supports the construction of 36 "Union Shelters" worth 60 million VND/house in Tay Ninh province.

On October 13, the delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City Confederation of Labor had a working session with Tay Ninh province. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam - Secretary of the Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee and some leaders of the People's Committee and the Confederation of Labor of Tay Ninh province received the delegation.

Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that, according to the assignment of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to support "Trade Union Shelters" in neighboring provinces, resistance zones, revolutionary bases and in response to the emulation movement "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses", the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has supported the provinces of Binh Duong, Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Tay Ninh with funding to build "Trade Union Shelters". In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation will support Tay Ninh province with funding to build 36 "Trade Union Shelters" worth 60 million VND/unit, from social mobilization sources.

Also at the meeting, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation wished to expand the network of activities of the CEP Fund Microfinance Organization in Tay Ninh, to support union members and workers in Tay Ninh province to access preferential loans to improve their economy and family life.

CEP Microfinance Institution, formerly known as CEP Capital Fund, was founded by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation in 1991. Over 33 years of operation, CEP has supported poverty reduction for union members, workers and laborers by providing effective financial and non-financial microfinance services to more than 343,700 customers through 36 CEP branches in Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of the Southeast and Mekong Delta.

CEP Tay Ninh Branch was established in 2014. By September 30, CEP Tay Ninh Branch had signed a coordination agreement with 346 grassroots unions and 105 credit clusters, thereby providing capital for more than 66,520 union members and workers to borrow capital with a total disbursement of 1,023 billion VND (with an average unsecured loan interest rate from 0.4%/month to 0.64%/month) for union members and workers to raise livestock, do small business, handicrafts, repair houses, increase income, improve the economy and family life.

CEP Tay Ninh Branch also implemented the CEP roof program, CEP Scholarship, provided necessities... for more than 10,075 union members and workers of Tay Ninh province with a total cost of nearly 5 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Tay Ninh province sincerely thanked the attention of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation and the support of Ho Chi Minh City units and enterprises in building "Trade Union Shelter", joining hands to help the province "Eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses".

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam also highly appreciated the activities of the CEP Fund Tay Ninh branch in recent times and said that the proposal to expand the network of the financial institution CEP branch in Tay Ninh not only meets the demand for loans, improves the lives of workers and laborers but also contributes to preventing black credit in Tay Ninh province.

On this occasion, the leaders of Tay Ninh province also presented a token of thanks to Him Lam Joint Stock Company, Ben Thanh Jewelry Joint Stock Company and Vietnam-USA Society English School (VUS) for supporting the construction of the "Union Shelter" for the province and awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee to the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation.
