On December 18, Kien Giang Province's Scholarship Fund held a scholarship award ceremony for the second term in 2024 to create more learning opportunities for students in difficult circumstances.
During this period, the Scholarship Fund awarded nearly 2.2 billion VND to support living expenses and tuition fees for 104 Kien Giang students from poor and near-poor households, and families with difficult circumstances studying at universities in Can Tho City, Ho Chi Minh City and Kien Giang University.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Trung Ho emphasized that Kien Giang Provincial Education Promotion Fund contributes to providing learning opportunities for students in difficult circumstances so that they do not have to drop out of school and reach their dreams. The Education Promotion Fund contributes to spreading and promoting the lifelong learning movement, mobilizing investment funds for the education sector, improving the quality of education and training high-quality human resources for the province.
“The Education Promotion Fund has profound social significance, the combination, sharing, and consensus between the State, businesses, and people in the work of promoting education, promoting talents, and caring for the young generation, contributing to the cause of education and training development,” Mr. Le Trung Ho emphasized.
Ly Tai Duc - a student at Kien Giang University - shared: "The scholarship is truly a meaningful gift for me when my family is facing many difficulties and thought it would be impossible to go to university. I really appreciate this opportunity and will try to study well, not to disappoint everyone's expectations."
On this occasion, Techcombank presented a symbolic board of over VND 7.7 billion to support teaching equipment for Minh Thuan Secondary and High School (U Minh Thuong District), Vo Van Kiet Secondary and High School (Rach Gia City). Units and enterprises presented symbolic boards to sponsor the Kien Giang Province Education Promotion Fund with a total amount of VND 15 billion.
