On May 24, at the Vietnam Youth Academy (Hanoi), the Award Ceremony of the National Final Round of the Asian Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO) 2025-2026 took place.

Speaking at the award ceremony, journalist Nguyen Ngoc Tien - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee said that this year's National AIMO Finals recorded an impressive scale with nearly 1,300 excellent contestants, carefully selected from more than 11,600 contestants nationwide.

Journalist Nguyen Ngoc Tien affirmed that the award is a worthy recognition of the students' academic results and competitive spirit. But the more precious thing that AIMO brings is the experience, confidence, and love for Mathematics; it is a motivation for them to continue studying, researching, creating and reaching further in the future.

According to statistics from the Organizing Committee, the AIMO Preliminary Round for the 2025-2026 school year has up to 11,670 registered and participating contestants. Among them, 10,139 contestants participated in the online competition nationwide, more than 600 contestants participated directly in Thanh Hoa, and nearly 1,000 contestants participated directly in Tuyen Quang. From 11,670 contestants, the Organizing Committee selected 1,285 Mathematical Talents eligible to participate in the National Finals.

Notably, the list of contestants entering this year's National Finals shows the widespread spread of AIMO to all regions across the country, stretching from northern mountainous provinces such as Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Son La, Lao Cai to North Central region (Thanh Hoa, Nghe An), Central Highlands (Gia Lai, Dak Lak) and Southern region (Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City) and many other localities.

According to statistics from the Organizing Committee, the final round had a total of 22 provinces and cities with students winning prizes. Among them, Hanoi Capital led absolutely with the overwhelming number of contestants in all grades and medal categories. Thanh Hoa ranked second in total prizes, especially strong in the secondary school block.

Contestants with the highest achievements and meeting the international AIMO standards in each grade group will be nominated for the AIMO Vietnam Team. This is the national representative team participating in the AIMO 2026 International Finals in Hanoi with the opportunity to exchange and compete with friends from more than 20 countries and territories.

The Asian Mathematical Olympiad, English name Asia International Mathematical Olympiad, is an international Mathematical Olympiad initiated by the Asian Mathematical Olympiad Association in 2012.

Each year, AIMO attracts about 150,000 students from more than 20 countries and territories to participate, including: China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, India, Brazil, Singapore, Turkey, Taiwan, Vietnam...
