This March, the legend of Frankenstein once again returns to the big screen with the movie "Bride!" starring Maggie Gyllenhaal as screenwriter, director and producer. The work is inspired by Mary Shelley's classic novel and is influenced by the classic film Bride of Frankenstein (1935).
In the film, actress Jessie Buckley plays a bride – a character who is resurrected from death. Before becoming a new being, she was Ida, a young woman who was unjustly murdered. After being created to become the partner of the monster Frankenstein, this character gradually transforms into an instinctive, rebellious and eager for freedom entity.

Accompanying Buckley is Christian Bale as Frank - Frankenstein the monster with intelligence and consciousness but living in loneliness for many years. The Bride's appearance not only opens up a chaotic relationship but also awakens Frank's desire to be loved and understood.
The film marks the first time Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale have collaborated on screen. Bale is famous for his versatility through many roles, especially the image of Batman in the Dark Knight series. Meanwhile, Buckley was nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Lost Daughter - Maggie Gyllenhaal's debut as a director.
On the investigative character line, Peter Sarsgaard plays detective Jake Wiles – a person who was once idealistic but gradually became skeptical of justice. Accompanying him is Myrna Malloy played by Penélope Cruz, a sharp assistant with the ability to analyze and string important clues of the case.
In addition, the film also features Jake Gyllenhaal as movie star Ronnie Reed – the character connecting Frank with the film world, and Annette Bening as Dr. Euphronious, the scientist who helped create Bride.
With a cast of talented actors and a fresh perspective from Maggie Gyllenhaal, the movie "Bride!" is expected to bring a bold Frankenstein story, rich in psychological depth and attractive at the box office. The movie is scheduled to premiere in Vietnam from March 13, 2026.
