Heart attack for nearly 2 hours saves the life of a patient with cardiac arrest due to myocardial infarction

A patient with cardiac arrest due to acute myocardial infarction has just been preserved spectacularly by doctors at Phu Tho General Hospital after nearly 2 hours of heart attack and 15 electric shocks.

On August 13, Phu Tho General Hospital informed that patient P.V.H (residing in Nong Trang ward, Phu Tho) had a sudden cardiac arrest on the basis of acute myocardial infarction. Doctors and nurses forced the heart continuously for nearly 2 hours, causing electric shocks to break down the wall 15 times, persistently saving the patient from the "death" and completely recovering, leaving no neurological sequelae.

The patient had a history of high blood pressure and was admitted to the emergency room after 2 hours of chest tightness and difficulty breathing. While being transferred to the cardiovascular intervention room, the patient suddenly stopped circulating. Immediately, the team launched a "red alert" for the entire hospital, mobilizing nearly 20 medical staff to perform cardiac surgery along the corridor to the emergency room.

For nearly 2 hours, each team took turns squeezing the heart outside the chest, combined with electric shock and taking medicine. After 15 vibratory violations, the patient's heart rate returned. The patient was given coronary intervention, and was found to have a complete blockage of the right coronary artery and had a stent and a temporary heart rate machine installed.

Despite coronary artery disease, the patient still suffered from multiple organ failure, heart shock and arrhythmia. The Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Team has synchronously deployed neurosuggestion measures, continuous blood filtration, respiratory support and blood monitoring. After 10 days, the patient was alert, without neurological sequelae; 15 days later, he fully recovered, walked, ate normally and was discharged from the hospital.

MSc. Dr. Nguyen Van Son - Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Intervention said that a heart attack lasting nearly 2 hours is extremely rare, requiring precise technique, rhythmic coordination and steadfast will.

Dr. Ha Thi Bich Van - Head of the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department emphasized that this is a brain-weighing battle, every minute is stressful, but the moment the patient awoke brought overwhelming happiness to both the team and the family.
