Patient V.D.N (61 years old, Hanoi), was admitted to the hospital on the evening of October 14 with severe burns, occupying about 25-30% of his body area, concentrated in his head, face, neck, two arms and two legs with black burns.
The patient did not directly touch the power line but only kept the ladder for the neighbor to fix the power in the chicken hat area. At that time, the total power source had not been cut off, and he was not wearing protective gear. In less than a second, the explosion created a lake of photosynthesis that lit up like fireworks, burning the entire exposed skin.
Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Spinal Neurology - said: "This was a burning case caused by high- radiation optic rays. The optical system can create temperatures ranging from 4,000 to 20,000 degrees Celsius, 4 times the temperature of the sun's surface, blowing away metal and causing deep damage, great risk of necrosis and infection".
Immediately after admission, the patient received intensive care: Pain relief, anti-shock, IV fluids, electrolyte control and monitoring of the cardiovascular and neurological system, and wound bandaging to prevent common complications in burns. After stabilization, the patient was replaced with a bandage, necrotizing tissue was removed to remove the dead organization and help the new tissue recover.
Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan shared: Fortunately, the damage did not spread deep to muscles, bones, blood vessels or internal organs. After nearly a week of treatment, the patient gradually stabilized, the pain was relieved, and the seed tissue began to improve - the prognosis for recovery was positive".
