Rasmus Hojlund joined Man United in the summer of 2023, for a price of up to 70 million euros. With great expectations, the Danish striker is expected to carry the M.U attack. However, this season, Hojlund has only scored 1 goal in the Premier League.
Rasmus Hojlund has been a prolific striker, and the former Dubliner believes the problem lies with the Dane's defenders. He told The Telegraph: "If I were in the United squad, I would probably lose a lot of friends on matchdays because I would react so strongly to players who wouldn't pass the ball.
I understand things are different now. But, as a winger, you have to pass the ball. Your responsibility is to provide the end product. Alejandro Garnacho is a good player, but how many times does he run down the line and cross the ball in? Antony or Rashford are the same.”
In fact, it is the Man United backline stars who take the most shots. According to statistics, Hojlund only takes 0.7 shots per game, but the figures for Bruno Fernandes and Garnacho are 3.1 and 2.8 shots respectively.
Dublin hopes new coach Amorim will help Hojlund solve his problems. He continued: “Hojlund’s lack of goals is not just his fault. Man United are not passing the ball. But I saw that at Sporting before.”
